just talk to him casually about his food, HIS FRIENDS, INTEREST, SCHOOLS, CRICKET AND MOVIES, tALK TO HIM LIKE A FRIEND NOT LIKE A MOTHER. Show your stricktness in his studies , tell him to go anywhere but after telling where he or she goes, Think and act like a teenager and he will come to heel.

Hi there,

You need to spend some time talking to your son. If the only discussion that you are having with your son is asking him to do something, he will consider you a nag, who is only here in this world to make his life miserable. Talk to him about his school, about his hobbies, about any questions he might have. Make him feel that he is important for you.

Change your attitude towards him. He is not a kid anymore. So he needs to be treated as an adult in many ways. But he is not an adult also. So he also needs his boundries. So you need to have a good balance here.

Start discussing things with him rather than telling him. This will make him feel that he is doing things because it is good for him and not because you want him to. Talk to him and not talk at him.

Set boundaries. Very important but set it by discussing it with him. Dont say things like "this is how it will be", or "because I said so", or "because I am the head of the house" etc.

Stick to your word. If it was decided that he would clean up your room before he went out to play, and he does not do it, and he does not have a good reason for it, make sure you take away some of his privileges. Dont say "I will punish you if you dont do..." and not do it.

These are just some of the tings you can do. The best way to know what you should do is to sit a while and think about you at that age. How you would have wanted to be treated.

I hope this helps.

Treat him as an adult. Don't "scold" him but gently cite the advantages of what you want him to do and the disadvantages , if he won't be able to do it.

Very simple, pose what you are want to ask them as a question. eg. instead of asking please tidy your room. ask do you think your room is tidy HE WILL ANSWER NO you then say what do you think you can do about it. and he will go and tidy his room.
