Myth No. 1: Carbohydrates are stored as fat. Every food is stored as fat as long as you burn less calories than what you eat.
However the comment about eating late at night and have a beer on top of that is not the solution either. Presumably you want to gain weight without eventually dying of a heart attack after a few years (refer to movie oversize me).
If you're born skinny, they're a great chance that you'll remain thin for the rest of your life. That's part of your genetics. It's like the girls with large hips. This is just part of your bone structure. However you can tone up and build more muscle by doing a few sessions of weight training at the gym. Ask the advice of a personal traininer at the gym for a personalised programme.
As for food, take some flaxseed oil with your meals. Flaxseed Oil can be found in any health food store. It's high in calories because it's fat but it's good fat. Also eat lots of nuts (almonds, cashew nuts etc..). Of course lots of meat and proteins.

Cheapest and healthiest would be baked beans on toast. Eat more regularly ie six smaller meals rather than most peoples two big meals a day, of which breakfast must be included. Ummmm, be careful of eating too many carbs if your not excercising, cos energy not burnt that you get from carbs will turn into fat. Banana's if you can afford them is another good food. Hope i have been of some help. Nick!

Go to the nearest health store and look on the shelves for weight gain products, make sure it has alot of creatine in it, this will help alot, you will need to work out with it but it will pump you up faster than most products, but be sure to see a doctor first and see if there is no reason that you cant gain weight, it could be a under active thyroid, but to gain healthy weight you will need to work out on a regular basis, good luck and be safe.

Do strength training to builde muscle. Don't eat a ton of junk food, there are lots of healthy foods that are high in calories, and that's what you want. Meat, potatoes, bread (multi-grain or wheat), pasta, cheese... don't skip out on the fruit & veg though, but don't be afraid to go for seconds or dessert!

Finally someone like me.... Don't you hate that people hate you for complaining about being too thin..... Drives me nuts, but it does suck when you can't gain weight either..
My doctor had me on those Carnation instant Breakfast drinks.
they are actually suppose to help lose weight but listen,
He had me drink one every night right before going to bed because they are loaded with calories. do them before bed and you are gaining all those calories because your not burning them off. It really helped me and I gained 15lbs. in around 5 months... GOOD LUCK,,, I know how you feel
