Good Luck

Sounds like you changed one (or more) of the file associations. Before doing a system restore, try the following:

Go to one of the files that is opening as "text" rather than as it is suppose to open
Right Click on the file
Select "Open with..." from the menu
Find the program you want to open that file (such as if it is a picture, you might want it to open with PhotoShop)
If the program is not on the list, use the browse to find it
Click once on the program to select it
Check at the box at the bottom of the window that say s "Always use this program to open this type of file" (Or similar wording - varies with versions of Windows)
Click the OK
Now the file should open correctly, rather then as text.
Repeat with other file types as needed.
Go to the bottom

Do what the first answerer said, or get some help on the Microsoft website and it should be able to restore your computer from there. You can undo changes with System restore.
