when the pregnant mother about 5-6 weeks! the unborn child has his/her first heart beat!
it happens...it just life...the heart developed enough with blood in the baby's body that it started pumping!

Now for the real challenge - try to break down fetal cardiology and the Na/K mechanism into real-people-speek.
It happens because of the makeup of the cells which move sodium and potassium ions back and forth from one area to another which make a muscle contract or relax. The heart uses impulses from the brainstem and its own electrical impulses to stimulate the cardiac muscle to contract in the proper sequence to allow for circulation.

further development of the heart which now beats at a regular rhythm

When I first found out I was pregnant a few days later I started to bleed alot and my doctor ordered an ultrasound. I was so early that they had to do an endo vaginal to see the baby. I was only 6 weeks along and I could his heartbeat. I dont understand if my 6 week old fetus had a heartbeat how at that time could he not be considered a baby??

The heart begins to beat long before a fetus becomes a person (at birth). You cannot justify calling a fetus a child until it achieves person-hood. Nothing gives the fetus a sense of person-hood like being smacked on the rump and being forced to suck air on their own.
