This pair have a history of producing live, healthy young before, and are expected to be able to continue having live healthy young. If you want to raise birds you can save a lot of time by investing in a proven pair of birds. You thereby surmount birds who don't like each other, birds not healthy enough to produce live young, and other problems.

I'm pretty much repeating what the other have said. 'Proven' means the birds are of breeding age, are bonded, have mated and have produced chicks. This last bit is very important as some birds may have mated and have laid eggs but they have not produced chicks. Some people may sell old breeders that they've given up because the birds have not successfully produced chicks.

If you're new to breeding birds, you'd be interested in a proven pair as then you don't have to wait for a young pair to find a mate and bond. Sometimes you have to wait for the chicks to reach breeding age, which can take 2-7 years depending on the species.

Hope that helps :-)

It simply means that the pair is indeed male and female, they have bonded, (which in some species might take quite a while) and are capable of breeding, producing eggs, and taking care of the eggs until the offspring hatch.
They have "proven" themselves to be a producing breeding pair.

It means they have been bred and had chick and so have 'proven' themselves capable. Important to look for a proven pair if you wish to breed birds
