and come and see how many people have lost weight (and maintained).
I have been on atkins now for almost 3 years and have lost 5 stone. The diet has a really bad name, mainly because people don't understand it. Its not a "no carb diet", its a "low carb diet". In the initial stages of the plan you are only allowed to eat 20 grams of carbohydrate a day. After a while you begin to add more foods and more carbs back into your daily plan. I am now at the stage where I can eat potatoes.
The diet has a really bad stigma about it, but to be honest its not a diet, it is a lifestyle change. Visit the website I provided above for further info,
and btw, to those people who claim that Dr Atkins died of his own diet. You need to check the facts before you make things up. They guy was 6 ft something and weighed just over 200lbs. Hardly obese for someone that tall. He died after walking the streets of new york slipping over on the ice abd banging his head. Dying a few days later in a coma.

All meats, poultry, cheese, cream, splenda sweetener and green vegetables. You should limit the amount of veges as they contain carbs. You are allowed 20g of carbs and these should come from your vege. Avoid carrots, sweetcorn, breads, grains, nuts and all other high carb veges. After the 1st 2 weeks you should increase your carbs by 5g a day and so on. You can visit the atkins website and get food lists and all the information on this diet.
However, I have been on this diet several times and every time I come off it I've put all the weight back on and more. I would only advice you to do atkins if you only need to loose a dress size or two for a certain occasion but not as a long term diet but again we are all different. All the best!

Considering the guy who invented it - dropped dead - I would advise against it. Just eat a lot of fibre - fruit and vegetables. That will fill you up and be low calorie and so you will lose weight. exercise also burns up calories - but so does keeping warm. Keeping warm really burns them up! So go out in the cold winter days and exercise to keep warm and that is a very effective way of losing weight. It doesn't give you bad breath like the Atkins diet either!

i might propose cat food or canines food. The Atkins weight-reduction plan is exceedingly cranky. on a similar time because it is going to enable short-term weight reduction, it does no longer something to retrain one's ingesting behavior. the only weight-reduction plan which truly works is the unrestricted calorie controlled weight-reduction plan. This weight-reduction plan retrains the recommendations to settle for ingesting much less food. you are able to eat in spite of you like as much as a on a daily basis calorie optimum. yet once you need to attempt the Atkins weight-reduction plan, i might propose any meat or fish and eco-friendly vegetables. No sugar, No root vegetables, no fruit, no cereals. it is exceedingly lots what you get in a can of cat food!

May I just inform you before you take up the Atkins diet, that Dr Atkins, when he died, wieghed roughly around 280lbs and had bad, so before you take up his diet remember he was a bit of a hypocrit.

You can eat meat, cheese, eggs, butter, sour cream, sugar free jello, splenda, cream, green leafy vegetables, cauliflower, You can eat up to 20 grams of net carbs a day and those should come from vegetables and cheese. You need to drink lots of water and limit your sodium intake. Only use splenda brand of artificial sweetners. Aspartame is not good. Make sure you eat as close to 20 net carbs a day without going over or you will have a low blood sugar crash. Net carbs are total carbs minus fiber and any listed sugar alcohol grams.

Always have vegetables on hands. Saute a big bag of frozen mixed vegetables in organic olive oil and garlic. Add some red pepper or maybe turmeric for additional flavor and separate into portion-sized containers with the fridge.

Distracted dining could possibly get you in trouble. Avoid eating before a television or in a movie theatre, as you're bound to use up more calories.
