Unless marginalized or eliminated, religion may end up being the end of humanity. When religions that have as their end goal, the destruction of the world and are competing with each other to see which one can out-breed the others, it can only lead to evil.

I don't believe that religion causes conflict any more than I believe that guns kill people. Guns don't kill people, people with guns do, and religion in itself doesn't cause conflict - a person can be religious in their home, in their place of worship, and be completely peaceful - but people who refuse to respect and tolerate one another do. If it wasn't religion, it would be something else... for some reason, humans seem incapable of tolerating belief systems that are not the same as theirs. Religion is a big one to fight over though, because it is such a PERSONAL idea - when you attack someone's religion as being fake or inferior to your own belief system, you are in essence attacking that person, not just their belief system, because they are almost one in the same.

I think it definitely has a divisive effect and this can cause conflict, sectarianism is a great recipe for building walls and taking up sides in wars of difference.

I do.It is written in the Holy Book of Giggles that religion brings unhappiness.

"And Giggles cried out, "You may worship all you wish to all that is not so, but I am your king and you shall have many wars and much bloodshed and shall know no peace for you have turned against my peaceful ways and my love and so all who believe in anything but me shall have nothing but hate in their hearts" B.B. 1:3
