you know, if you are going to be snippy you might want to spell 'grammar' correctly.

I agree that some people do it on purpose ... YOU for example, probably to see how many people would answer you with rude and insulting language! Fortunately everyone's been quite tame - but perhaps you see that as a negative rather than a positive??!

Anyway, when it comes to MY strange punctuation habits it's deliberate! I also use British spellings instead of American - and any other spelling error is just a mistake or typo!! (I have to say that before I continue...!) At least I use capitals at the beginning of my sentences and paragraphs - and I know how to spell 'grammar', and 'don't', and 'whatsoever'!!

Despite all that I, too, feel annoyed with the losers who come on here and make such an almighty mess! Not only do some of the QUESTIONS make no sense, but many of the ANSWERS make no sense either!!

Some of it's caused by language barriers, which is hardly surprising! As for the native speakers of English, partly it's poor schooling, and partly it's a weird combination of laziness and an attempt to be 'cool' (or whatever the equivalent word is nowadays!) Being as thick as two short planks, and semiliterate, seems to be a sort of 'badge of honour' to some people!

Some may be language barriers. As we know the Internet is open to everyone in the world. (unless socialist, communist or Islama Fascist limit access or shut it down)

Here in America, too many try to use the Ebonics or the teeny hip hop cutie lingo. All of which makes comprehension difficult and displays gross ignorance.

Too we have a cult of people who are just plain stupid. Example: Look at some of the answers here.

It is because the questions are coming from different people from all over the world.
Some write questions in a sort of short hand. Others do not speak english fluently and therefore reads differently. People speak and type different to what you might consider abbynormal due to living elsewhere. And then there are those who didn't have the proper education due to whatever.
Read thru the lines...smell the flowers :)

The reason why some people question don't make any sense what so ever is because they don't read over there stuff that they write and they do not do a spelling check. School have nothing to do with people making bad mistake it because the way they talk sometime. The teacher at school can only make you learn they cannot force you to do what you don't want to do.

i hit upon the lack of ability of grammar and spelling stressful. exceedingly while there's a button which will verify your spelling for you. It won't verify grammar, yet you won't be able to have each thing. i think of fairly some what we see right it is in basic terms laziness. some comes from sheer negligence. you will could desire to make certain for your self. I additionally think of it is an illustration of the lack of ability of coaching that immediately's toddlers are receiving. inspite of ways badly a toddler desires to be held back at school, they're pushed forward via need for extra area. we aren't doing them any favours. while i replaced into at school, in case you failed, you failed. your acquaintances went forward and you remained interior the comparable grade for yet another year. wager what? those youngsters are effectual immediately. they did no longer become awl murderers. they're mature, to blame contributors of society. we could desire to flow back to that. I even have communicated with human beings international huge (I stay/artwork in Canada). If there's a spelling mistake or a grammatical errors in an e mail, that e mail orginated in North u . s . of america. All (definite one hundred%) of the e-mails I even have gained from foreign places have no errors in any respect. it is a excitement analyzing them. Even from people who talk languages different than english as their ordinary language. possibly they have some style of spell verify/grammatical checking application that we aren't conscious of.

I see this question frequently on Yahoo! Answers, and most of the time these questions have spelling and/or grammar mistakes in them. I find this quite ironic.

Yes, some of the users of Yahoo! Answers are speakers of other languages who are learning English. Others are native speakers who simply do not use language they way that you expect. I personally believe that no one has language in his/her back pocket, and that people are perfectly capable of making their own choices about how they will or will not use language. In fact, I think that grammar rules often grossly underestimate the savvy that everyday users of language have in carefully manipulating language for their own purposes.

As a linguist, I have learned to study language in all of its intricacy and detail, and have discovered that what seems to be mundane communication is actually highly structured and patterned. We are incredibly skilled and capable when structuring our communication, moment by moment. And this is something that every normal human being can do! It's simply quite amazing.

People use grammar and spelling rules to try to get higher status than others. In fact, when people criticize others' use of language, it's actually the person or group behind the language that they don't like. The classic example is the movement against AAVE (African-American Vernacular English, also known as "Ebonics") which is a perfectly viable dialect of English, known to be more precise than standard English in at least one respect. However, people who speak this dialect are told that it's a degraded form and they need to speak "properly". It's like telling a person from the U.K. that they don't speak English properly! And why are speakers of AAVE told this? Because they're black. In other words, the dialect is considered bad because of the people it's associated with, not because of the characteristics of the dialect itself. This is why one linguist called linguistic discrimination the last acceptable form of discrimination.

So, my plea is that you and people who read this question will tread lightly when criticizing others' use of language. We use language to identify ourselves as belonging to certain groups. If people don't use language the way you expect, you probably don't belong to that group.

Both, but you left out an option.
They want to be the 1st or 2nd to answer and don't bother to use the spell check. And there is no 'grammer' check.

For some people, what you say is true, but for others, they are too lazy to do things right, so they use sloppy grammar and spelling to get their message across.
