Here are some links that might help (See below.) To find others, do a search on the internet using "hand painted portrait from photo" (or anything similar) as a search term.

If you haven't found someone go to hellosanantonio.com and look for artist Guerro. I've done several portraits that can be viewed here, if you decide to have one done, my prices are really reasonable and my paintings are exceptionally detailed and of heirloom quality. I always tell people to check around and get an idea of what a good painting goes for before deciding. You want to find an artist that will work with you and allow you to see the portrait in various stages of completion, but more importantly you want someone that will capture not just a likeness but the personality of the person. My e-mail address is on my gallery page. Sincerely, Baldemar '' Guerro'' Vargas

You want the best job? Go to the pharmacy and get a copy of the picture and then go to the local High School and ask to hire a High School student and pay the student about 60 bucks and it will be the best because you'll end up making a student proud and no one can do justice to your grandmother anyway.

Unless you live in the backwoods, you may be able to find a local artist who would be more than happy to oblige you. Check with a local art gallery or art supply store, your local cultural arts council.
Another option, should you want to work with someone online, would be to try e-bay, or the website, EBSQ. You may even be able to google "portraiture" and find what you're looking for- good luck-- I loved my grandmother too!

Walk along the street. Find the kid with a spray can in his back pocket. He will do a beautiful graffiti sketch on the side of any railroad car you choose - for a price.

Then your grandma can travel all over the United States and see the beautiful sites and everyone in teh States can get to know her too!
