What's the origin of the Thai superstition that you should not whistle at night? And what will happen to you if you do?

well - I live w/thai in a small village and my guess would be that it has to do w/ghosts.. everything else seems to.. but I have never heard that discussed nor have I ever whistled in the village.. good question - I'll ask my wife..

THE THAI ARE VERY SMALL PEOPLE AND WHEN YOU WHISTLE AT NIGHT IT SOUNDS LIKE A INCOMING MISSILE JUST BEFORE YOU STEP ON THEM .I'M SORRY COULDN'T RESIST. D.W.K.

It's not good. From old folks.. whatever elder said just follow ya.. tis kind of thing not good to rebel. From my understanding is the 'spirit' will follow u..

sont know about thia but the caddo indians say not to whistle at night also. you are calling bad spirits and they will answer you.
