I became vegetarian overnight around 17 years ago. That was after I read a very graphic account of how turkeys are raised and slaughtered for human consumption...it was disgusting, and utterly disgraceful that we could do such things to other living creatures, and I wanted no part of it.....not in my name! I have never eaten meat since and have absolutely no desire to do so again...and when I say meat, I mean meat, poultry, fish, and any other form of seafood.

I've been a vegetarian for quite some time now. I started on a whim, because I knew someone else that was, and that person really impressed me. Once I started, I liked it. Prior to being a vegetarian, I had a lot of digestive problems and had to be on prescription meds for it. Since eliminating meat from my diet, I have had no stomach problems, and if it ever gets a bit upset, I can simply take an over the counter antacid like tums or rolaids. Much better. I feel healthier!

I knew meat eating was wrong. I just had a gut feeling. not to mention the waste, the cruelty, and the taste of burnt flesh. I couldnt stand it any longer. I know I am too intelligent to eat anything intelligent. ever since I have had less health problems, and feel good. I am definitely a more sensitive and compassionate person then I once was. live, and let live. i have been a vegetarian 3 years, and could never go back to my past wicked ways... and now, neither will my husband, sister, or little brother. they say one persone cant change the world... but I am of to a good start. animals are my passion now, and I will forever fight for their right; not to be abused, or eaten. now I'm pregnant with my first child, and happy to say, there is a "future Vegetarian onboard!"

and by the way, I just don't eat plants, that seems to be the big misconception. I eat boca and morning star burgers, fake 'bacon," chick'n" "sausage" etc etc... and soy products, and nuts and beans for my protein. I enjoyevery food group, every day!

blessings and peace

I have been a vegetarian since I was 15 so that makes it 4 years.

I became a vegetarian when I went to Jerusalem and went through the Arab meat market. All the rotten, moldy, blood-dripping meat made me have a total melt down. Ugh it makes me disgusted just thinking about it. Right then and there I became a vegetarian.

I've been vegetarian for about 2 yrs but a vegan to almost close to a year, it's the best thing you can do for yourself the enviroment and the animals, just make sure you educate yourself about what you need to eat to get all your nutrients and don't worry about what meat eaters say about protein, anybody who knows anything about nutrition will tell you there all a million ways to eat it without eating an animal protein is in just about everything, even in a bag of potato chips, but Chaz is right you'll get made fun of sometimes and want to smack the heck out of people, other than that i love being vegan!

I was a vegan for 18 months of my life only.
No animal anything for any reason. I was in a detox program- I admit, I did look better, yet at what cost.

After I almost died, I got over that vegetarian thing. I was so sick. That was when I was in college. I did not know how best to eat the right combos.

Well I'm a Texan and I love meat and will not give it up unless there is serious issue that endangers our lives.

I became vegetarian 11 years ago..I read a book on the industrial animals..the all process from birth to the day they are slathered..
to grow up fast and to be healthy they feed the animals with antibiotics and hormone rich foods..its horrible to know that we happen to eat all the same hormones and antibiotics ppl give the animals..I love myself and I am very careful what I put in my stomach as we are what we eat!

no one has to become a vegetarian at any time in there life. but why for me is because of all the poor animals that die for you to eat meat. all animals are living things just like humans and have hearts and feel pain. I just think how would you like to be tortured by being killed just for people to eat meat because they love it.

about 7 months ago because i feel that i must stand up for things that i believe in. it is so hard in high school to take any real stand. yes, i can recycle, but i can't vote. yes, i can be worried about the environment and try to make good choices, but i live in a house with my parents. but, i do know that although people enjoy meat we do not need to treat animals the way that we do. it seems that the cruelty that we seem to show these animals caused me to take a stand. if you have ever seen a chicken farm the smell and conditions would make you sick. so this is what i am trying to take my own stand. yes, it is difficult...people make fun of you...but i like to stand up for myself and try my best to make a difference. i will learn to eat what i need and then will be unstoppable!
