i'm really looking for if std's can affect your genetics, like can they affect your children, and their children, and so on?

Yes, AIIDS for one, Syphllis, if you pregnant while in the advanced stages. You can hand them down to your child.

Not as far as sperm/egg fertilization; that is to say, you can't give your child Herpes just because you have it. During birth, you can transmit some STD's and cause serious damage though. For example, syphilis can cause blindness. Other bacterial STDs can also be transmitted, but that doesn't have anything to do with your genetics. Just take some antibiotics and they're gone.

I agree with the last answer, However if dad has HIV/AIDS and passes it to mom (or if mom just has it--whatever) you do run the risk of passing that to the unborn child through the placenta. Doctors screen for this during pregnancy and prescribe drugs to prevent this (it CAN work). If mom has a herpes OUTBREAK during labor, they will do a c-section to prevent transmission.
