*Some of the side affects of the pneumonia vaccine are soreness and/or redness at the site of the injection, fever, rash, and allergic reactions.

*When should I get the vaccine?
The strep pneumonia vaccine can be given at your convenience, any time of the year. If you are 65 or older, you only need the vaccine once in your lifetime.

There are very few side effects from the shot except soreness at the injection site. It is usually a 1 time shot but some doctors like to give it every 5 yr.

Every five years.
Here's the CDC's official side effects.
http://www.cdc.gov/nip/vaccine/side-effects.htm
"PPV is a very safe vaccine.

About half of those who get the vaccine have very mild side effects, such as redness or pain where the shot is given.

Less than 1% develop a fever, muscle aches, or more severe local reactions.

Severe allergic reactions have been reported very rarely.

I can tell you that vaccination is a mean sucker! You probably won't be able to move your arm without pain for a couple of days. thank god you only need one every 5 years if you're healthy. Take some tylenol before you get it and go to bed and rest. You will need it, trust me. Godloveya.

Achy, flu like symptoms...and generally, every 5 years, if you are in a high risk situation. Good luck!
