Absolutely not. I have no clue what the girl above me is talking about.

I have had genital herpes for almost 6 years now. I shared a bathroom and house with my two younger brothers most of those six years. NONE of my brothers, friends, boyfriends, family members, etc has EVER got genital herpes from using the toilet after me. It's just not spread like that.

You need some sort of sexual contact in order to get herpes. Since you say you don't have sex then you probably don't have herpes. Remember though, even if you don't have vaginal sex, doesn't mean you can't contract the virus. Herpes can be spread by oral sex and direct skin to skin contact (like dry humping).

You more than likely probably have some sort of a rash or some kind of reaction to something. Herpes sores are usually very large, red, and VERY painful. They have a very distinctive pain.

ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE MISINFORMED!! Yes--the virus can stay there for hours!! Chances are this isn't what you have, you probably just have a rash of some sort. Herpes causes many symptoms upon first break-out besides just bumps. But the virus may live on clothes or sufaces for a while--oxygen doesn't kill it!!!

when i worked for a husband and wife team ob/gyn..they always said "NO!!! the person would have to smear the infected area all over the toilet seat while he/she had a break out and even then not possible...." let me tell you..we had a few divorces happen from things like this from cheating hubby's giving to wives and cheating wives contracting from the "other" man....
