Type 1 diabetics don't have endogenous insulin and depend on insulin injections for their daily requirement of insulin, neglecting which they will become uncontrolled diabetics. The condition can worsen further and lead even to diabetic coma.

Apart from proper doses of insulin prescribed by a doctor (preferably a diabetologist or endocrinologist) after carefully studying the blood glucose profile of the patient, the patient has to take the right diet and must exercise regularly to keep his blood glucose levels under control and postpone (if not avoid) developing diabetic complications like cardiac problems, stroke, kidney failure, foot ulcers, blindness, etc.

The goal of treatment should be the achievement of a near-normal blood glucose profile that prevents or delays the onset of diabetic complications without any remarkable compromise in the quality of life especially in the form of hypoglycemic episodes.

Alcohol should be avoided because it damages the system completely and also because it can precipitate hypoglycemia in diabetics on treatment. The sugar and calories in the alcoholic drinks also add to the problem. Moderation, if not complete stoppage, of alcohol intake is vital if a long symptom-free life with the best of its quality is desired.

Drinking alcohol occasionally is not so bad for a diabetic. I have a beer now and then. Sometimes I'll do a few shots before getting into a bar fight for some exercise. However, if you get sloshed, you wreak havoc on your whole diabetic equilibrium. For instance, if you are puking, you may need that last twinkie you can't keep down to combat a hypo. Also, the headaches you get from the hangover can confuse you into to thinking you are hypo when you are really hyper or vice versa. If you can't find the toilet, you probably can't find your glucometer or insulin either. Sleeping all day to fight a hangover is bad for your diabetes. One last note, if your friend is in high school, he should not be drinking either. He's not of legal age.

Yes, this is really bad. My advice would be for you to get a little more educated about Diabetes and help him stay on track. I know as a Type 1 Diabetic that sometimes stress and other things can make you lose sight of what's important when it comes to your Diabetes. If you guys live together and you do the shopping start altering the shopping list. Go for healthier alternatives that what you both are eating now. More fruits and veggies and limit the food high in carbs and saturated fats. Also, maybe start walking with him in the morning or at night time after dinner. GL and I wish you both the best!

Yes, ethanol (alchol in drinks) is a type of sugar, and is converted by the body to glucose. Type 1 diabetes means that your bf takes insulin because his body does not produce any of his own. Diabetics need a high protein, low carbohydrate (low starch and sugar) diet. Alcohol in small quantities is okay, but only if his blood sugar levels are in control. If he doesn't take his insulin regularly, his blood sugar levels could go up high enough to put him into a diabetic coma. This can cause brain damage. Too much insulin is also bad. Diabetes is a life long disease that needs careful management to avoid complications, if your bf is not doing this, then he is risking his life.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

On the package of the insulin my pharmacist puts a sticker on the box DO NOT DRINK WHEN TAKING THIS MEDICATION" he already knows he shouldn't drink, He must have a death wish, he drink, he doesn't eat right. Some people eat 3 meals a day and 2 snacks, I don't need the snacks but the 3 meals is a must. my doctor said that was ok . I don't understand how he is surviving...he needs a dietitian to show him how to eat and cope with diabetes .I am a diabetic, if I miss a meal my sugar level drops very low..I get weak and dizzy........You need to take him to the doctors or someone will be taking him to the morgue, if he doesn't take care of himself he will go into a diabetic coma, something a friend of mine never came out of.

VERY bad. Alcohol is sugar. He must be an alcoholic, because no one who isn't would continue to drink with diabetes. He's got a a death wish, because that is exactly what's going to happen.
