ichi, ni, san, shi, go, roku, shichi, hachi, kyuu, juu

As for the "shi / yon" stuff going on up there, the way we learned it was that it's shi & shichi (4 & 7) when it's less than ten. Once it hits fourteen, it's juuyon (10 + 4) and juunana (10 + 7), etc. The "ku" someone listed as nine is more the nine you would use in months, like September - kugatsu. As a basic number 1-10, it's kyuu. And yeah, Japanese has a lot of counters once you start counting actual things instead of just numbers. What, it's like "ippiki" for one cat-sized animal, "hitotsu" for a generic one thing, one piece of paper is "ichimai", etc. It gets complicated pretty fast, but basic numbers are all right.

All the above answers are correct HOWEVER,

Remeber that in Japanese you have multiple counting systems like for people, pets, round items, long items, cars, buildings etc...
They are usually radically different from the normal 1-10 numbers

Ichi, ni, san, shi/yon, go, roku, shichi/nana, hachi, kyuu, jyuu.

But that's just one way to count. The more usual way for counting things when you don't know the correct counter to use is: hitotsu, futatsu, mittsu, yottsu, itsutsu, muttsu, nanatsu, kokonotsu, tou.
