Being diabetic means that you do have to watch what you eat. It not just about calories, but about fats, carbs, and proteins. It's not so much the Calories, as compared to what the calories are from. Fats, proteins, and carbs breakdown differntly effecting blood glucose levels differently. For more information, go the American Diabetic Association web site.

You have to watch your sugar intake depending on what type of diabetes you have. Plus balancing your meals each day helps a lot. Eating at the same time everyday, if you are diabetic it is better to eat three square meals a day. I also found losing weight helps also. Your family doctor should be able to refer you to a diabetic dietitian to set up a diet plan just for you.

the Dr who finds diabetes in your blood will tell you to eat a certain amount of carbs in your diet since they turn in to sugar in your body and when i was a kid and took it you were put on a certain amount of calories a day. you can eat almost anything as long as you count the carbs in it and yes it would be a good idea to stay away from any sugary food as this will increase your blood sugar and could lead to sever kidney damage or sever nerve damage. i also gasto reflux or irritable bowel syndrome. diabetes is also inherited especially Type 1.

You have to watch your carbs, proteins, fats... NOT just your sugar intake. You used to have to watch just your sugar intake but now they have it figured out a little better. If you look on a box of say, your favorite cereal, you will see "Carbohydrates". That number contains pretty much everything that will affect your blood sugar.

You have to watch your sugar intake and watch your carbs cause they turn to sugar. When your sugar level gets to high it kills nerve damage.
