Why do they think an apocryphal book can be used for edification when there are obviouse errors in it?

I believe God will bless the Catholic church above and beyond their expectations if they shine the light on tares (false beliefs) in the church and remove them. God is going to do that himself soon if Christians don't.

Liet Kynes, Apocryphal books are those that didn't have evidence to support them as true and they contradict with the rest of the Holy Bible scripture somewhere or somehow. And if one is filled with the Holy Spirit of Truth, can easily discern what is apocryphal and what isn't. The Bible is from original Greek NT and original Hebrew OT. What the Messianic Jews knew by the Holy Spirit what were false were discerned first and not included in the bible. The Holy Spirit confirms the Holy Bible books as of God in ones spirit. The Holy Spirit has me toss an apocryphal book I purchased in the Garbage because it was clearly confusing and contradicted the message I knew true from the bible. They belittle women, etc...

Also, Who decides what is apocryphal in the Catholic Cannon? God does.

God knows what books he inspired and what aren't inspired by God.

DougLawrence, I am filled with the Holy Spirit and confirms in my spirit the Truth of the Holy Bible and discerns false doctrines. It just takes asking God.

Obviously you haven't asked God about the apocryphal writings and instead leaned on your own understanding and what man has told you.

magilla gorilla, Of course I can talk to God. I am a born again spirit filled Christian.

I love the Holy Bible, because is tried & found true. The Catholic Cannon apocryphal writings included are similar to any false doctrine that has religious truth then adds deception.

Imacatholic,
Skimmed over some of the apocryphal books. It reads like the Koran or the Mormon book. I know in my knower that the inspiration isn't the LORD God of the bible.

The New Testament canon of the Catholic Bible and the Protestant Bible are the same.

The difference in the Old Testaments actually goes back to the time before and during Christ’s life. At this time, there was no official Jewish canon of scripture.

The Jews in Egypt translated their choices of the Hebrew Scriptures into Greek in the second century before Christ. This translation, called the Septuagint, had wide use in the Roman world because most Jews lived far from Palestine in Greek cities. Many of these Jews spoke only Greek.

The early Christian Church was born into this world. The Church, with its bilingual Jews and more and more Greek-speaking Gentiles, used the books of the Septuagint as its Bible. Remember the early Christians were just writing the documents what would become the New Testament.

After the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, with increasing persecution from the Romans and competition from the fledgling Christian Church, the Jewish leaders came together and declared its official canon of Scripture, eliminating seven books from the Septuagint.

The books removed were Tobit, Judith, 1 Maccabees, 2 Maccabees, Wisdom (of Solomon), Sirach, and Baruch. Parts of existing books were also removed including Psalm 151 (from Psalms), parts of the Book of Esther, Susanna (from Daniel as chapter 13), and Bel and the Dragon (from Daniel as chapter 14).

The Christian Church did not follow suit but kept all the books in the Septuagint.

1500 years later, Protestants decided to change its Old Testament from the Catholic canon to the Jewish canon. The books they dropped are sometimes called the Apocrypha.

Here is a Catholic Bible website: http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/bible/

With love in Christ.

Who decides what books are Apocryphal and which are not?

I assume you are talking about the Greek only OT books. This are not apocryphal books. There are real apocryphal books of both the NT and OT. The Greek only OT books of scripture are not apocryphal. Protestants use the Hebrew only Canon which was codified at the Jewish Council of Jamnia in 90 AD that was used to separate the Jews from the Christians. To this end, they decided on the older Hebrew only books because they are missing several centuries of Jewish revelation which point towards Christ in increasingly clearer manners.

Jesus, the Apostles used the Greek and Hebrew versions of the OT including the Greek only books. Please see http:\\www.scripturecatholic.com and look on the left side under Septuagint and Deuterocanonical.

Please study your history including the formation of the canon of scripture. You will be very surprised at what history will tell you.

The background of the Apocryphal books you have found out is quite one-sided. those books weren't secure interior the Masoretic text fabric of the Tanakh, the Hebrew previous testomony. They have been although, secure interior the Septuagint, the Greek Translation of the Hebrew OT often utilized in Christ's day. while Jerome translated the Scriptures into Latin, he secure the the Apocryphal books, yet with the categorical preface that they weren't secure interior the unique Hebrew text fabric and could be considered apocryphal! Later copyists copied those books yet exceeded over the preface Jerome had made. for this reason the books grew to become oftentimes happening interior the Roman Church as being "scripture", even nonetheless they weren't secure interior the Hebrew OT, nor have been they actually oftentimes happening as scripture with the help of Jerome. via fact Jerome did no longer settle for them as authentic scripture, and because (it is the considerable section) weren't element of the HEBREW Masoretic text fabric, those books are rejected with the help of Protestant churches. It wasn't in basic terms Martin Luther the two. John Wycliffe, the 1st man or woman to translate the Bible into English, long formerly Luther replaced into ever born, made notice of Jerome's preface, and for this reason secure this preface in his very own translation. via fact those books weren't interior the Hebrew Cannon, via fact Jerome stated that they have got been considered apocryphal even in his day, i've got not got self belief it is acceptable to assert that the Protestants bumped off those books, yet extremely that the RCC extra the books ... with in spite of solid intentions ... later on. a much greater centred protection of the Protestant place is given on the final hyperlink published below.

It is much more likely that you are mistaken than the church which Jesus heads, and which the Holy Spirit most certainly guides to all truth.

Consider the possibility that your beliefs are and have been faulty, and that is why the apocryphal books seem to be in error to you.

The deuterocanon of the Catholic Bible is the Bible. Any other 'bible' that does not have all 46 Old Testament Books, and the 27 New Testament Books of course, is incomplete.

The Protestants removed the books from the Holy Bible.

Tobias
Judith
Wisdom
Ecclesiasticus
Baruch
Machabees I & II

I was raised on the King James version. I now read the:
Latin Vulgate
Douay-Rheims Bible

The books removed are inspiring and should be read..
