I live in Greece, and I picked up the cat/kitten on Sunday near a taverna on the beach. How do I tell how old she is? And I would really appreciate any help.
Thank you!

Thank you for the help. I took Jack to the vet and he is fine, had his first shots and medicine for worms and parasite. He is about 5-6 months old. I gave him a bath and now he is clean and no fleas! he likes to play and follow me everywhere, and he already uses his litterbox!

Assuming the cat is in good health and uninjured, the fact you were able to pick the cat/kitten up is a good indication it is not feral. As a rule if a kitten has not been exposed to or handled by humans by the time it reaches 6 to 8 weeks of age it probably would never willingly come to one. Without seeing your cat I can only offer generalities as to how to determine her/his age. Keep in mind that early nutrition, exposure to disease, presence of parasites can affect it's size, weight and demeanor. A cat living on it's own without medical care, a good diet and frequent interaction with other free cats has a lifespan of less than two and one half years. With intervention to all of the above, a cat can easily live for 15 to 20 years.
Getting back to your question, and keep in mind these are only generalities. Going by size and weight, if you can hold it comfortably in your palm extending onto the wrist and weight is around 3lbs figure 6 to 10 weeks. Palm extending further up the forearm, weight 3 to 5 lbs, it's around 3 to 6 months. Palm using most of the forearm, weight 5 to 8lbs figure 6 to10 months. 8lbs and above 1 year or more. I hope this helps and please keep in mind this is only rule of thumb. If you're going to keep her/him have it checked out by a Vet. Good luck.

Your best bet is to visit a vet. I adopted a kitten from a shelter and no one was quite sure how old she was because she was a rescued stray. I asked the vet and he gave me his best approximation and I followed what he said and she's beginning to do everything to the book like lose her teeth when she's supposed to and act how she's supposed to for her age. The vet will know best and good luck!

If you have a kitten you will see the baby teeth, the more teeth the older the kitten. Cats start to get permanet teeth at 4 months, so the bigger teeth start to show your kittty is about 4 months old.

You can tell by checking her teeth. If she still has her baby teeth and not a lot of teeth in the back of her mouth, then she is quite young....less than 3 months old. After that, a cat has their adult teeth, so you have to guess on their age from there.

Good for you both. A vet will test for feline leukemia and other illnesses. The series of inoculations can be set up. While you're there , you can get an "educated guess" about the cat's age.

Well, it would depend on it's size. You know basically how big an adult is so compare it to an adult and you can kind of guess how old it is. If it's half adult size it's probably about six months old. If you have a veterinarian anywhere around you could ask him and he could give you a more accurate estimate.

Usually when you find anything feral, you take it to a vet to get it checked out first - they'll also be able to answer all your questions

You need to take her to the Vet. They can tell their age by their teeth. Get her the reccommended shots and please have her spayed. Good luck with your new friend.
