Yes and No. The fruit is the ripened ovary—together with seeds—of a flowering plant. Vegetables are edible parts of plants that people eat. Both fruits and vegetables are composed of cells, and are alive for that matter but they lack a brain, a nervous system (the transmission mechanism for pain),and pain receptors (what allows you to feel pain, found in skin and on internal surfaces) so they do not feel pain, which is a relief given the deliberate animal maltreatment for human purposes that exits in the world.

It relies upon on what fruit or vegetable. The SEEDS of a fruit are doubtlessly alive--dormant, i think of. The tree produces the flesh of the fruit as food for the seed - it has no different objective. A root vegetable--the muse is the middle of the plant, so if vegetation had soreness receptors, that they had possibly be interior the muse. so a procedures as absolutely everyone seems to be acquainted with, they do no longer. it must be that vegetation have an skill equipment (Kirlian photos exhibits this) yet no longer a mandatory hectic equipment the far greater complicated existence-types do. Grains...? back, fairly some the grain or nut is food for the germ. yet vegetation produce hundreds of seeds, and maximum of those are eaten--in actuality, some pass undigested via birds and animals and that's how they're unfold. you are able to take excitement in an avocado and plant the seed (except you're in a heat climate, you would be able to desire to maintain it interior the homestead, yet you are able to plant it. You sound such as you're pondering transforming into a fruitarian... or a Jain.

Fruits and vegetables are alive; however, since they have no nervous system (including lacking a brain or nerve centers) there is no reason to believe that they feel pain or have the capacity to interpret injury in that way.

They are alive but not sentient life (ie they can't think or feel pain , like animals can!!) and in most cases are either seeds , ovaries or foodstores. The whole plant isn't killed to obtain the fruit or vegetable so I guess it would be the plant equivalent of a hair cut or nail clipping!!!

Nope! Animals are unique because we have nerves.
As far as we know, fruits and vegetables feel no pain or emotions. They simply have nothing that is capable of this!

I will not answer through philosophical approach which will preiciptate a rather highly debatable and messy answer.
In any case, what is pain in the firt place?
Three condition for pain to be exist... at least in biological term.
1. stimuli (your bite)
2. pain receptor (nervous system)
3. processor (brain which will interpret the stimuli into 'pain')
I do not think 2 and 3 exist in plants... so
they will not feel pain

Fruits are life potential rather than living beings. They are seeds with the nutrients the seeds need to grow into a living plant. Fruits are the natural, original diet of humans.
Vegetables are the living plants. They are not mobile like animals and therefore do not require as much sensation such as physical pain. But, like animals, they do their best to survive and have to die for us to eat them.

According to PETA the vegetables have a nervous system. Just like mammals and fish. So, even if you nibble instead of chowing down on them it could cause excruciating pain. If it were not for groups like PETA we could never figure out why we can't eat anything and shrivle up and die.

Have you heard of FIVE SENSES.
Plants have only one sense.
Animals have five senses.
Humans have the sixth sense too.
So you may conclude that the plants/fruits/vegetables do not 'feel ' the way animals or humans do.
