It could be neuropathy and it could also be carpal tunnel syndrome, which seems to be more prevalent in diabetes and the symptoms, like the tingling tend to be more severe at night. You should see your doctor to find out for sure because there are treatments and left untreated can cause irreversible damage.

My mother is also diabetic and also suffers from swollen calves and feet. She should be fine until Wednesday. Just make sure she tells the doc what's up. I massage my mothers legs and feet at least once a week, and it helps relieve some of the water in her legs. Her frequent urinating could be an effect of a medicine. Is she on any meds for her diabetes?

It's called Neuropathy. It's when the circulation is poor, caused by the diabetes. The nerve endings get damaged and as far as I know, there's no cure for this. You should see your doc or diabetes nurse about this, they will arrange for you to get the circulation tested. This is easy and painless, just like having a scan, but on your feet......and DOOWOPPER....I was told that once the nerve endings are damaged, they remain damaged. You may be able to control it to a degree, but not cure it.

It is called diabetic neuropathy. It means your nerves are being affected by uncontrolled blood sugars. If you get your sugars under control, it might help relieve some of the pain, but some of the nerve pain may become permanent. I would check with your doctor for more information and advice.

As others have said, it's probably diabetic neuropathy, and left untreated, could lead to the loss of fingers, or even the whole hand. Same thing can happen to your feet. I have a good friend to lost half his left foot a few months ago. It can go into the eyes and essential organs, too.

Go to the doctor. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
