It's amazing how some people must lead such sad lives that they visit the vegetarian section just to poke fun at what they know nothing about. Very sad.

Anyway, have you thought of a casserole? They're easy to do if you've got the spare time. I like kidney bean casserole - basically just cook some onions, leeks, other mixed veg (carrots, cauliflower, broccoli for example) a tin of tomatoes, a tin of kidney beans, potatoes, a bay leaf or two, some basil or thyme and mix with a large amount of vegetable stock until it's reasonably unny. Then cook it on the stove for about 15 minutes, then place in a casserole dish and cook in the oven for about 1 hour. If it turns out too runny just add a bit of flour. It's really delicious, and while it's cooking you could get everything ready for your girlfriend and spoil her a bit! Hope it goes well whatever you make.

You need to get a vegan cookbook or do a google on line. There are thousands of recipes for vegan dishes and they are very delicious too. I am vegetarian and my husband is vegan. Are there any health food stores near you? How about whole foods? If not, soy milk, soy cheese, soy butter and lots of veggie burgers are vegan. Pasta, with vegan butter, steamed veggies and throw in some veggie burger crumbs and you've got a hearty and tasteful meal. Don't forget a crisp salad as an appetizer. Good luck.

Take a 1.5 lb. piece of flank steak. On one side, rub it down with black pepper and cayenne pepper according to taste (I like it spicy).

Mince 4 cloves of garlic and spread it evenly over the meat.

Drizzle honey across the top of the steak.

Splash with worcester sauce and balsamic vinegar.

When you're cooking the meat, you only want to flip it once. Cook it on low heat, and you should be able to see a little while line running up the width of the flank. This is fat as it's cooking; when it gets to about halfway up it's time to flip.

When the unseasoned side is up, thinly spread some raspberry hot sauce across the cooked side.

I like my flank steak medium - still a little bloody on the inside, but barely.

This incredible recipe is sure to impress your vegan girlfriend. Make sure that you light tallow candles to set the mood (you know, the kind made from animal fat).
