Yes, it can become very unhealthy, especially if you already have respiratory difficulties. If no one is willing to remove the dead rodent for you, go to your boss and explain the situation to him/her. Ask that maintenance remove it as soon as possible because you feel that your health is at risk from inhaling the fumes from a dead carcass. If your boss won't do this for you, you may have to call the health department in your city and file a complaint. I would do this as a last resort because it could cause any number of bad feelings from your boss for going over his/her head. Whatever you do, do not sit back on this, take some kind of action.

That is terrible! There's nothing worse than DEAD SMELL!! You poor thing. You need to complain to Human Resourses or the maintanence dept!! It's probably not bad for your health to just be breathing it. It wouldn't be harmful unless you came in direct contact with the formal critter. But all that aside, it makes for unsatisfactory working conditions....you've got a valid complaint young lady.

No, breathing it will not hurt you. It just stinks a lot. We used to get a dead squirrel in our inaccessible attic once a year. The smell lasts about 5 days.

Where is your boss or supervisor?? That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. You work in a place that they will not remove a dead, rotting mouse that is above your work station? What do you do for a job? Talk about unsanitary working conditions !!!!

ERK!

if no one's willing to get rid of it, get someone powerful enough to allow the budget to hire some cleaner to get rid of it asap...

if it smells it means bacteria & virus are there & the corpse thing is decomposing... not only it's unhealthy for your physically, emotionally it's disturbing too!!!

Yes, you might get sick because of the mouse's body chemicals breaking it down. Mice were 1 of the causes of the Black Plague! I suggest you try to get rid of it.

NO WAY it would hurt you!!! It's just a mouse!!!
Of course, the fact that it won't hurt you means you can just leave it there... that smell is grouse!!!

Maybe you can call a handyman, or enterminator to remove it.
