I didn't find it hard becoming a vegetarian but then I never liked meat.

I did however, find giving up cheese difficult and I hated soya milk. However I gave myself 2 weeks to try it and in that time I found lots of interesting recipes and nice new foods and found that by the end I was doing ok. It took me longer to get used to soya milk, but when I thought about the reasons why I didn't want to have animal products it stopped me from going back to it.

I had no trouble because I never "decided" to become a vegetarian. By chance I ate no meat for a month and just couldn't put dead animals in my mouth after that! The taste was so gross. That was in 1979, and I have never regretted not eating meat. Life is a lot better meat-free.

One day at a time is a great way to get started. Good luck! Soon you will feel better and you will be so grossed out by meat that you will never figure out how you ate it for so long.

It was not hard to become vegetarian for me because I had the support of friends (but not family). Ive been vegan for nearly 20 years now. It was never difficult, just not convenient. It's much easier now. There are so many vegan products and soy milk is so widely available. Eat in ethnic restaurants and you'll have no trouble.

I was vegetarian born and raised...I found the switch to vegan much like what you're going through. The basics milk, eggs, even cheese was alright, but my ice cream addiction made it tricky. Thank goodness for delicious frozen soy treats! If you're bound and determined you can do it....one day at a time!

I am a born vegetarian and continue to be a vegetarian. So I cannot answer this question. But my wife, who is a strict non-vegetarian finds it extremely difficult to accommodate vegetarian diet even for a day.
