I would do a starter of lobster salad. Something cold, with a savory dressing. I’ve seen a great lobster salad that had avocados and was presented as a parfait. The components were put into a tall, narrow, ring mold and then when the mold was pulled off, the salad stood in layers. Beautiful! If not lobster, then crab. Blue crab, Dungeness, or Stone Crab. You could pair the lobster salad with a nice chilled soup…maybe roasted pumpkin or something seasonal.

Main course would be Prime Rib and a whole steamed Salmon with stuffing/dressing on the side (something suitable for both beef and fish). Plus all of the usual vegetables.

I don't understand what English pudding is...so can't help there...but since you are departing from the traditional menu, I would keep the desert traditional to please those folks….

Sorry to be a bore but the traditional prawn cocktail, turkey with all the trimmings and christmas pudd is what I like. If I was to choose an alternative it would be; Melon, Duck then a xmas pudd flavour ice cream.

Christmas with my family is a little different. We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve, and usually have just tons of different things to go on sandwiches, all kinds of bread and cheese and meats. Also, different salads, chips, just tons of finger foods. Then the next day we have the turkey and all that. It's nice because it's not formal, and we all can just talk and laugh, and have a great time :)

To start with a clear consommé (Soup) with a dash of sherry.
Main course. Try goose for a change. Or a good joint of roast pork with crispy crackling.
Pud? I like a traditional Christmas pud, flambéd with rum or brandy, served with brandy/rum butter or brandy flavoured white sauce. How about a really sinful Chocolate Mousse with the addition of cognac or whiskey? Perhaps even Crème Chantilly for decoration.
And then crackers and Port Stilton, with slices of pear and/or apple. Remember to sprinkle the slices with lemon or lime juice to stop them turning brown.
