Based on past studies and reports, I have decided to cut out red meat and pork from my diet, at least for now. I ate alot of red meat and I know that many pounds stay undigested within the body for several years. I'm not keen on becoming a full-fledged vegetarian, but I have stopped eating red meat within the past 2 weeks and have eaten just fish and chicken. I do feel alot better, but I think about having a steak or a burger once in a while. Pork is out of the question because it never really made me feel that great after eating it and it usually has a 'not-so-pleasant' smell to it. I don't even eat hot dogs or bologna. Once I cleanse my body of the remaining red meat, is it safe to eat it once in a while or just not at all?

Don't get too hung up on labels. It is not important whether you fit into some category such as "vegetarian" or "vegan." Eat what you are comfortable eating, and don't worry about what it is called.

Most people feel better after eliminating all meat, whether red or white, but it's your mouth it's going into, not somebody on YA's mouth. Don't worry about undigested food hanging around for years - that's not true. But it does hang around for a few days if you eat too little fiber, and that's enough to cause trouble. But it's short-term retention, not years, that you need to be concerned about.

I would say not at all... You can make either turkey burgers and "doctor them up" as my husband would say. I actually started how you are, then I went to trying the meatless "hamburgers" and now I am just over a month of complete vegetarianism. I can not even tell you how much better I feel... and eventually you will not crave red meat, or in my case, meat at all! Good luck!

andielep~~ what you described is a vegan, not a vegetarian....

Your body = your choice. You can put whatever you want in your body. Maybe try to find locally raised red meat or maybe there is a store where you can find steroid free meat. Just try to know the source of your food. But if you decide that you like Big Macs, well go ahead and eat them. You don't need the permission of people on yahoo answers. But I would try the local meat first if you can get it.

its not just a matter of not eatin this or eatin that,
the evolution of a person's mind also determines what he coud
eat to stay healthy.
its not always wise to cut out meat completely,as the body
may develop such a cravin you'l eventualy
wind up sick or go back to eatin even more meat.
a person evolved enuf coud eat no meat at all and be healthy,
just listen to ur body as to where u are. add a littl
meat to ur diet if u get a cravin or if ur feelin
unhealthy,,,,complexion of the face is a good way to tell,
many vegans hav a sickly sheen to their faces

Congratulations on cutting down on meat. You need to cut out all meat and dead animal products such as gelatine, leather and meatstock if you want to be a vegetarian. That is your personal choice. I have never missed meat and never looked back!!

No. Wile you are reducing your risks slightly, by eating chiken and fish you still run the risk of all the common problems asociated with meat. Heart disease, most common cancers, stoke, etc.

Read The China Study by: Dr. T. Colin Campbell.

Cutting out beef and pork might be healthy, but none of it remains undigested. That's an urban legend.

Your body is already cleansed. Eat red meat twice a week.

That's your decision. However the amount of cholesterol in chicken is almost equivalent to whats in beef. Unfortunately that information has not been easily accessible or disclosed. Especially to people who have high cholesterol.

I second the suggestion that you read the China Study if you want to find out more about what has been proven to be harmful to our bodies.

Good luck.
