This is a question for British or Irish ex-pats living in the States.
Wanted to try traditional beans on toast, but I don't know what kind of beans to get, or where to find them in the States?
Also, how do you make beans on toast? Do you butter the toast? Do you use white bread or wheat?

It has to be Heinz Baked Beans in the green can on thickly cut, white buttered toast. (Bread colour not as important as brand of beans - I like wholemeal too, but you were asking about traditional....). Nothing tastes like Heinz and here in Britain they are the ones to use (no, I don't work for the company - it's just true!).
A poached egg on top is also traditional.
ENJOY!!

Usually "Heinz Baked Beanz" (can with turquoise label) is used for the dish utterly British dish, "beans on toast". Heinz beans are a special type of canned beans sold in the UK. You can get them on line or you can ask you grocery store if they have them. Here in Houston, Fiesta grocery store carries an aisle of British favorite foods for ex-pats. Heinz baked beans look similar to, but taste different from the regular US baked beans in cans.

Toast the bread, usually white bread is used
butter the bread as you do morning toast
Heat the beans in a pan and then put the heated beans on the toast. Salt & pepper to taste

Beans on toast is often eaten with a "full English" breakfast. It is eaten at Tea time and just about any time. It is the favourite English comfort food.

Just buy a can of Heinz baked beans, and any kind of toast you would use otherwise. Heat up the beans, toast the bread, spoon beans on toast, and there you go!
Enjoy!
(you can use butter, but it is not normally done)

One tin of baked beans in a pan heat them up. Put some bread in the toaster, toast it, put butter on the toast and pour beans over the top.

For extra flavour you can put some cheese on top

via fact we've this variety of extensive selection of people, we contain their many meals in our diets. specifically from eating places introducing somewhat some issues to our palette. My grandmas kinfolk got here from England and yorkshire pudding and extreme tea grew to become right into a classic concern. Our customs replicate our previous and our community. i think of a few people, merely no longer individuals, hear a number of the names and get placed off from that. Blood sausage, kidney pie, those issues that are unfamiliar might nicely be unfairly judged. the worldwide gets smaller, having the connections on the cyber web, and can open up peoples perspectives. i could extremely prefer to return and take a nutrition excursion in England, despite the fact that if..... I nevertheless might nicely be constrained in what i could prefer to adventure. i like Australia, yet i could no longer shadow the Aborigines, i could be so susceptible from no longer eating!!!!
