Do they think it's trendy to save their little animal friends or do they truly give a darn about animals?

BTW, I'm an unabashed omnivore.

Its the classy way to weigh less than your neighbor! Besides, would you eat Beef grown in Mid-California where the Ecoli runs rampant? I sure as heck wouldn't. Oh but the vegans now are out of lettuce and spiniach.. oh my! The're going to starve! (What else is new?)

While it's hard to speculate on people that I don't really come into contact with on a regular basis, I think that celebrities have both sincere and not-so sincere feelings when taking up a vegan or vegetarian diet.

I mean, I realize that celebrities have completely different day to day routines than the average citizen. But in the end, I'm fairly certain that they have the same intentions as we do; that is to say true passions *as well as* trendy passions.

There are celebrities that actively support causes for animals like Ian McKellen or Moby. They spend a certain amount of their time and income that they could be spending elsewhere working towards ending things they view as unjust.

But I'm sure there are celebrities who (just like some people I know) that give in to so called veggie fads because they want the latest "vegan body" or simply to call attention to themselves. While it's fantastic and vital to care about your health, being healthy begins with the route of your choices. If you're making choices that are egocentric, chances are they're not that healthy.

Enjoy!

Veganism does seem to be a bit of a fad for some people. I don't eat animal products, so perhaps I'm not one to talk, but some people, especially younger people, seem to get into it for some kind of trend factor. Unfortunatly this means that some people are also not so conserned with their own well being, and don't go about it in a healthy way...

I'm vegetarian but not for the animals. I like my leather jacket and shoes. I just can't actually swallow something that had a face. I've been vegetarian for 18 years. It's not for health reasons.

Maybe each one has their own reason? If I had my own chef I could eat some fabulous vegan recipes.

Most Hollywood celebs want maintain their figure and health by ingesting a lot of fiber which is quite filling and full of vitamins and minerals. Most are also health conscious and shy from meat which are high in triglycerides and cholesterol.

It's a lifestyle of looking and feeling beautiful and physically fit. At first, I think it's more of a necessity but later it just becomes a good lifestyle.

I truely believe they feel animal fat adds fat to their bodies whereas vegetables do not. You see how thin most of them are? Personally, I would love to feed them a nice thick steak with onions and mushrooms!
