Diabetes testing doesn't have to come from fingers anymore, but it's still the most reliable. Blood circulation is different in different parts of the body. The capillary blood from the fingers usually shows changes the fastest. The reason that alternate testing is becoming more popular is meter technology has improved immensely and require much less blood. Even still, the most accurate results come from the fingers. Blood from alternate testing sites can be 10-15 minutes behind what the finger tip test reads. when glucose levels are rapidly changing, like after eating, exercising or taking medications an alternate site is likely inaccurate. The best time to use alternate testing sites is for fasting and before meal testing. ALWAYS use fingers to test when the results are going to be used to make corrections or when concerned about hypoglycemia.

For many years, the fingers were the only place on the body acceptable for diabetes testing, because capillary blood is used for the tests. However, now with new meters that use minute beads of blood, much much smaller than before, now testing can be done on the base of the thumb, on your forearm, and other places where there is a rich blood supply. The fingers are the easiest place to obtain the blood. But occasionally a patient will need to let the fingers "rest" for a while, because frequent testing in the same areas, causes the skin and tissues to become hardened and the blood vessels become tough and blood flow is compromised. Alternating sites is very important for diabetics, not only for comfort, but also to preserve the tissues from this damage.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

If doesn't. You can actually test form your forearm, legs, and a bunch of other places. It requires a special poker, that you can get with a lot of meters, or probably even buy one at your local pharmacy. However, I wouldn't recommend testing out of a cut, because it could contaminate the sample.

On another note, I have to say that I agree with Pops. I'm diabetic, and i perfer testing on my fingers, which have big calouses. I find that my arm hurts more, but you have to try whats best for you.

Blood is blood. It doesn't matter if it comes from your fingers, your toes, your arm or your butt! It was just assumed easy to get a drop from your fingers and, since that's how they trained people, everyone was doing that but when I'd test my diabetic dog's blood then I'd take it from her ear.

Yeah, I bet you're saying that you didn't know dogs could develop diabetes. Poor thing did and I had to give her 2 insulin shots a day. She died young, too, at age 7.

"Pops" (who answered above) obviously doesn't know what he's talking about if he calls fingertips quick and painless. He obviously doesn't have diabetes.

I've asked health care providers about the fingertips and why not somewhere else. They haven't given me a straight answer and even balked, but then they said something about there being a better blood supply in the fingers, that the blood was "better." I personally think it's a crock of crap. There are some meters now where you can test blood from your forearm or leg instead.
