One and only University of Chicago Medical Hospital – drgood..

Waiting times shorten with semi-public care (University of Illinois Hospital, UIH) from Public ones (Cook County). Private care can vary in strengths (Rush, etc). Where direct enquires on costs are the norm, UIH is the exception listing prices openly. – Lea

You have public: Cook County, which has a very long wait time.
You have semi-public: University of Illinois Hospital: moderate wait times. This hospital is the only hospital I've ever seen which list its prices at the first floor information desk.
You have private: Rush, University of Chicago, Northwestern Memorial, etc. This is the biggest category. The quality does vary.
There are good and bad things about each of these hospitals. Cost can impact choice. If you want to know cost, you'll have the contact the hospitals.
