one random blood pressure reading gives us very little information about your blood pressure. 150/108 is higher than we would like. however, if you just exercised, smoked, drank coffee (or anything with caffeine) this could explain the reading. what you need to do is RELAX (sit in a quiet place for about 5 mintues) and then take the blood pressure again. write down the numbers and time of day. it is normal for blood pressure to fluctuate throughout the day. continue taking the medication your doctor prescribed.....155/108 is not an emergency situation......keep track of your blood pressure and bring this information to your next doctors appt - this way the doctor can have a clearer view and be able to adjust your medications accordingly

Blood pressure measurements don't count for anything if you've been walking around. Ideally, you should be sitting down for at least 5 minutes or so. Blood pressure also can vary during the day, so it's best to get measurements from similar times during the day. No caffeine in the morning either. These measurements should be repeated on a few separate occasions. Some people get "white coat hypertension" when they go to the doctor's office because they are nervous. Probably blood pressure medicines wouldn't kill you. But you don't necessarily need blood pressure medicines if your blood pressure is only high while active. When doctors study the effects of high blood pressure, they study the effects of people who are diagnosed with it as described above. You are probably at no higher cardiac risk from your blood pressure.

The 155 isn't so bad, but that 108 is no good. I know when I was pregnant and ran that high they kept me in the hospital, because of the risks of stroke and other things. I would be contacting somebody, especially if you're already on meds, you might need them changed.

This is high but what were you eating or doing just before you checked it salt , caffeine & stress will raise it & you still need the pluse rate. Last time I checked Mine it was 140/97 with pulse rate of 130 but I had just had a cola and a hand full of mini salt pretzles. if you become very concerned contact your local ER & speak to a triage nurse they may help cause you know how you feel better than anyone else First instinc of real consern is a sort of internal alerting system no matter the out come dont obbsess , BUT DO NOT IGNOR

Inay: I would see a doctor. Sometimes a med change is in order. Only a cardiologist can tell you this after an EKG. I brought my pressure down with good eating habits. Lot's of fish products especially Salmon, leafy vegetables. Low on the red meat and little pork, Lot's of Fowl. Stay away from sweets and bakery products. I believe in good eating habits, as we get older we need less red meat, about the size of a deck of cards. Not that often.

I assume you took your pressure on one of those machines or had someone take it for you who was not a doctor. Often, 120/80 is considered normal, but that's when you're at rest and relaxed. Many people get nervous when they are having their blood pressure taken and it is usually best to take it several times over a period of time and take the average. It's never a bad idea to contact a doctor, especially if you are already on medicine for it. Why take a chance? Be healthy.

That is quite a high reading. Was it that high while you have been taking your medication? Had you exercised or walked up stairs or anything right before taking it? Are you sure that you used the right size cuff? A cuff that is too small will cause a false high reading. Also, make sure that you aren't taking any over-the-counter medications (like decongestants) that would make your blood pressure go up.

Just to be safe, contact your doctor. I would definitely talk to a medical professional as soon as possible because that is definitely high...

Yes, that is high and even more so for someone already on bp meds. Get to a doc fast. You need that pressure to go down. Don't wait with a reading like that. Go now.

If your bp is that high and you are already taking some form of medication, you need to determine the reason. Contact the doctor who wrote the prescription first.

hi..i think ur pressures are high...if the they remain high..u should take some professional advise as soon as possible..and if u r not old enough to have high blood pressures u should take some measures to determine the reasons rather taking the meds..there might be some narrowing of vassels going on..so it's better u let ur docs to fix them up..and let me remind u if u let ur blood pressures untreated u can have heart atack or stoke..but right now i dont think they are high enough to cause any damage...but they will shoot up...
