generally its safe but everything carries a potential complications like a patient may end with a complete heart block.
& yes it will take care of SVT
You better talk to your doctor EXTENSIVELY about the procedure, complication & percentage of benifit.
good luck

Yes, catheter ablation procedures are generally very safe, though they do have risks (as do all medical procedures, and everything else you'll ever do as well, for that matter).
As for taking care of an SVT, for certain types, they can have a very high success rate, though nothing is ever 100%. Talk to your electrophysiologist about whether or not it may help, he may need to do a study beforehand to determine whether it will be of benefit, and if so, exactly where they need to ablate to have the best chance of getting rid of the SVT.

I completely agree with the doc above me. Pay attention! ALL procedures, no matter who extensively used, no matter how minor we may deem them, no matter how safe they are considered, no matter what the outcome track record is, all procedures carry a risk. Discuss both this and alternative treatment at length with your physician. Discuss the risks and benefits, post care and recovery. I suggest you take with you a written list of issues and questions and sit down with your doc for a talk. Take a family member with you. Four ears are better than two. Best of luck to you.
