since a large amount being a diabetic type 1 or type 2 involves controlling your diet so as to maintain a steady blood glucose level taking anything effects the amount of time food stays in your system is going to through that out. A type 1 diabetic is going to have a better control since they have the ability to both raise and lower their glucose levels, type 2's often relie souly on their diet. I would talk to your doctor if I were you.. or even better a pharmacist

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

If a diabetic is on a good diabetic diet, they wouldn't need a laxative. Try more vegetables and fluids. Here's more:

For type I and type II diabetics (and those who are overweight and could potentially become diabetic). Copy and bookmark the webpages I‘ve listed below… they are invaluable for those with diabetes and/or weight problems...

I've found a wonderful book that will help you control your diabetes and minimize or even eliminate the complications. Some folks who became diabetic due to poor diet and obesity are effectively cured by following the advice in this book. I'm a type II (inherited), but it helps all types, especially those who became diabetic due to poor eating habits. It's by an author who has really done his homework, Patrick Quillin, Phd. It's called, "The Diabetes Improvement Program". I have tried his suggestions and found them to be very helpful. I have no complications whatsoever and my blood sugar levels are quite stable. Yes, I still have to take Metformin (Glucophage) daily, but it's the minimum dosage (500mg) and I only have to take it twice a day. I have been off Metformin for as much as a week, but this was with vigorous exercise. Many, what I call, non-hereditary type IIs (those that don't have a close relative who had it) have gotten off medication completely, just with diet, exercise, and supplements. So, in some instances, it most certainly can be 'effectively' cured. Read more about it here:

The book explains what's going on in our system and what to do about it. It's really easy and inexpensive. It's basically diet, supplements, and exercise. For example, did you know that cinnamon helps blood sugar absorption? It also controls cholesterol and triglycerides. This is according to the USDA:

Not sure about *least* suitable, but certainly avoid lactulose - it's a liquid and as its name suggests contains sugar (in fact it's quite disgustingly sweet and incredible energetic, if you see what I mean.

If you're looking for one that's likely to be effective without after-effects, look for something sugar-free based on psyillium husks; that's a bulking agent (just drop a little in water and see how it swells up) and very gently effective and easy to titrate; also doesn't produce the vicious cycle you can get into wth products that purge.

Don't take any laxatives that have a high sugar content, that would be dangerous for a diabetic, always ask you're doctor or pharmacist for most suitable laxative. Why would you want to know the "least suitable"????

Any diabetic should seek doctor or pharmasist advise on this but I would imagine least suitable would be the chocolate one you can buy ex lax or syrup of figs as both sweet.

all laxitives are ok for use by diabetics as you only need a small dose anyway and this should'nt affect blood sugars that much.

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.
