my blood pressure is like 132/88 in one arm but 196/120 in the other...I think it has something to do with the heart, but can't remember what...does anybody have an answer?

I am under a doctors care....no digital exams performed to whoever suggested that.....and the blood pressures are taken at the doctors office and by nurses where I work. The dr seems more concerned with getting the pressure down, rather than the difference in arms.. I'm concerned with such a large variation in arms

That is a huge difference between both arms. If this was done only on one reading i would definitely have it re checked to see if it was accurate first before worrying about it.

It may be that you have a stenosis (narrowing) in an artery (in your chest) that leads to the arm with the LOWER pressure.

Unless you are having symptoms that your doctor can trace to such a narrowing, there's usualy no indication for surgical intervention.

the left arm will have a higher blood pressure because it is closer to the heart the right arm is further away and so is lower.

You may have a clogged/slightly clogged artery leading to the one side, its normal for there to be a small amount of variance between arms, just not that much. They may be reading them wrong too.

Good god that second one is a scary reading. You should probably see your doctor regardless of which arm it was.

it can mean a coarctation or narrowing of the aorta between the two brachial artery branches.
