If you have everything medical wise documented by your doctor she should have made arrangements due to the Disability Act of 1964. If your employeer falls under the Equal Opportunity Act, you'are actually able to sue. Cause, you should not have quitt, you should have pressured her to make disability arrangements for her. Ask a laywer for legal advice. Good luck, and I am sorry that you had to quitt.

I can sympathize with you.

I work graveyards and my job is a sit down job with very little physical activity. I'm lucky in that I have a great boss and great working conditions.

I do not strictly have asthma but have emphysema and chronic bronchitis too.
Right now, I am working my two week notice because my physician advised me to quit work and concentrate on my health.

For those of you who have never worked this shift, let me explain, working these hours--- even for someone in the best of health, are hard on the body.
Now take someone with a chronic disease, who is already physically stressed and put them on a shift that naturally stresses you anyway and what you have are.....increased exacerbations of what ever respiratory problems you have, increased hospitalizations, increased infections, and additional stress on your immune system.

If you want to stay at your job, contact your Dr and see if he can help you by giving you orders to go to another shift.

It's just a crying shame that sick lungs don't show, if we could wheel them around in a wheel chair maybe people would be a little more sympathetic.

You worked there 23 years and you didn't have enough seniority? Sounds like they wanted to get rid of you before you retired. You should have asked to be put on midnights only or bit the bullet until you could retire. Now that you've quit, your only option is to go to the union (if you have one).

Did you show them medical documents to show that you this is a condition you have.

If not, go to your doctor, get a written statement, or letter from your doctor stating that this is not good for you health.

If you have a labor board or labor union call them, if not, go back and speak to the adminstration office directly and tell them you are not happy with this decision.

STand up for your rights.

Don't you have any union to help you ? If you have been with the company for 23 yrs, then they should at least give you some considerations.

Please explain how this is affecting your asthma to a degree that you can no longer perform your duties. We need more information on your situation.

wow, sorry to hear about that....maybe it's just as well, sounds like they didn't appreciate you at all, and were trying to weed you out.....get back on track and look for something that is rewarding for both you and your employer. good luck.
