recently i visited www.notmilk.com.earlier i used to consume milk freely, but this site has confused me. is consumption of animal milk poisonous?is it unnatural to consume animal milk as in nature no other species consume milk of any other sapecies?is it true that only the milk of his or her mother is meant for human babies?is it true that when baby grows teeth for chewing ,there is no need of milk for him as now he can consume solid food and now he can survive without milk which is a readymade food?

any human being can survive without milk itself. the real question is, what supplement is available that will provide the nutrients milk provides in another form.
just because i have teeth, doesn't mean i no longer need liquids.

Any site that is for animal rights will push you toward thinking that any animal product is posisnous. I personally have never drank milk for the soul reason that it would make me sick (i'm not lacfose however). If you are worried about drinking an animal product or that it could be unhealthy, try soy milk.

I heard that it taste the same and has all the nutrients.

I believe that it is unnatural to hold an animal against it's will and make them stand all day with suction things hanging from it's body and getting squeezed.

I dont understand the question about babies, if you are speaking about breast milk, I personally will breast feed my children, for the reasoning of becoming closer to your child and the nutrients. However for some woman and baby it does not work out as they had planned, or some may chose that it is not the best for them. It should be what is best for baby, but that is not always the case. That does not make them any worse of a mother. Or say that they do not care.

"Is consumption of animal milk poisonous?"

No, not at all. All the nutrients it contains are similar to the nutrients human milk contains, and no one is going to argue over the healthiness of human 'intended for human consumption' milk are they? Animal milks do have these nutrients in different proportions, but that does not make it bad at all, although human milk is still better for babies (animal milk doesn't do them any harm though), adults don't need specific about their levels of nutrients in milk. There is nothing inherently harmful about cow or goat or buffalo, etc, milk, but a hell of a lot to be said for it.

"Is it unnatural to consume animal milk as in nature no other species consume milk of any other species?"

Well, no other species have been able to as they haven't ever domesticated animals, but that doesn't make it unnatural per se. There is evidence that humans have adapted increased tolerance to dairy; usually milk is only drunk in infancy, and consequently animals and some lose the ability to process it when they mature. Most humans, especially northern European ones (where dairy consumption was at its highest), however can digest milk well these days with no adverse effects, indicating adaptations in the last few thousand years with the advent of widespread adulthood dairy consumption. If evolution is adapting us to it I wouldn't call it unnatural. This is what Mike004 is alluding to, although he should know that for most white people and large proportions of other races (don't ask me why it differs between races, it's just genetics) what he says is untrue.

"Is it true that only the milk of his or her mother is meant for human babies?"

Well, see the above answer really. If you're also asking whether cows milk is only meant for cows, as jeskar21 said, I don't think they intend their meat to be eaten, but a huge range of animals eat meat, and no one claims that's unnatural.

"Is it true that when baby grows teeth for chewing ,there is no need of milk for him as now he can consume solid food and now he can survive without milk which is a ready made food?"

Yes, humans out of infancy don't need milk as such, but it's a brilliant source of calcium and many other essential nutrients and it really is advisable for younger children. Adults would have no problem without it, but again, it's still nutritious and tasty and their aren't any good reasons not to eat it...

You should know that NotMilk is a branch of PETA ( http://www.petakillsanimals.com/ ) and almost everything on it is complete propaganda and lies. There are no health problems with milk.

Shalom R's link has nothing to do with milk, it's just selling a product.

As for soy, soy is much less healthy than milk. It's proven to cause several diseases, including cancer and has hormonal effects on children.

When I am asked why I do not consume milk I simply answer 'Cow's milk is meant for cow's babies'

I wouldn't drink a giraffe's milk, so why would I drink a cow's milk? If we needed milk, why aren't we still drinking our mother's breast milk?

Yes, it is completely un-natural to consume another species milk. Yes, it's true, milk is ONLY meant for the species of the same animal. The milk industry pushes 'calcium, calcium, calcium, you can go only get calcium from cheese, yoghurt and milk! Drink milk!'

Us humans can get a plentful supply of calcium from vegetables, nuts, seeds and oils.

I also do not consume milk, because as a vegetarian I find it would be hyprocritical to. I do not believe in killing of lives. Milk causes death everyday. Cow's are im-pregnated, they have a baby (veal), and therefore produce milk. The baby is taken away and kept in horrendous conditions so us humans can enjoy the 'soft, tender meat of veal'

Yuck!

Try soy-milk, it's beautiful!

Contrary to an earlier post, not all adults are lactose intolerant. I still digest milk just fine and so does my mother's side of the family. Some people develop lactose intolerance in their adulthood. Others develop it very early in life (my father was allergic to both mother's milk and cow milk-he was raised on goat's milk. He became intolerant to all types of milk in all forms and in even the smallest quantities well before he reached adulthood).

Some people cite the different levels of protein and other nutrients between mother's milk and milk from other animals as proof of cow's milk, goat's milk, etc. being bad for you. Actually, the only thing that the different levels of nutrients prove is that newborn human babies have different nutrition requirements than animals and that some animal's milk is very healthy in that you get more protein, calcium, etc. from animal's milk.

Many people simply like to scare other people with their own opinions stated as facts. Many have no idea what the facts are. Who created the notmilk site? Certainly not a nutritionist with REAL credentials...

This whole notmilk thing sounds like something created by some overbearing vegetarian that willing to distort facts and lie just to get others to agree with him/her. Don't get me wrong-I don't hate vegetarians, just people who push false 'facts' on other people and people that want the whole world to be just like them. I hate to tell them (ok, I DON'T hate telling them) that diversity is a good thing.

Silly health-nazis...they don't know a healthy diet from a hole in the ground.

A professor told me that she had stones in the kidneys, the reason that caused that , according to the doctors, was the milk and she almost dies. I believe when you say that consume much milk can be a quiet killer, is necessary to consume milk but not in excess.

I don't know about that but i could tell you that humans do develop a sort of relative lactose intolerance (due to lactase deficiency the enzyme which works to break the sugar part in the milk) during their adulthood ...may be it's our body's way to tell us stop drinking milk and leave it to newborns and toddlers .
