For my money, the two best Indian restaurants in London (discounting the few Michelin starred ones that cost an arm and a leg!) are as follows.
Rasa and Rasa Travancore, both on Church Street, Stoke Newington, N16 (also one on Charlotte St, W1 and other London locations). Rasa is vegetarian, Rasa Travancore does meat and seafood too, utterly delicious and completely different to the High St/Brick Lane korma places you may be used to as it's Keralan (southern Indian) cuisine.
Lahore Kebab House, 2 Umberston Street, Aldgate East/Whitechapel, London, E1 1PY
Amazingly cheap, bring your own booze, again, slightly different from the norm, being more Pakistan cuisine, but top quality food, always full of people wanting a taste of home, a good sign in my book!

Bangla in Brick Lane. There are many Indian restaurants there, so you can try any other to be honest. But I like fish curry from Bangla. The closest tube station is Aldgate or Aldgae East.

I recommend the Mirsh Masala
213 Upper Tooting Road,
Tooting, London
SW17. Tele: 020 8672 7500/ 020 8767 9608
It is more of a diner than a restaurant, but it has the best curry (in my opinion) and you get to bring your own drinks.

dude there are thousands of good indian restaurants in London, you don't need the names of any particular one - if you are in this great city - go to brick lane (E1) and walk along - pick one! chances are it'll be good!
