The princess of the party is only 1, which means she'll tire out faster then any of the other kids, so it would be easier for her to be at home so when she's tired she can take a nap and the other kids can keep playing. You could decorate, make a cake and some cake cookies. It would be fun. Thats what I did with my daughter:)

for a one year old i think the backyard will be fine. she's not going to really understand exactly what's going on anyway.
