Are you washing them before the fridge??? this creates mold
faster. Wash just before eating.

if i was going to use them straigh away for cooking or eating I wouldn't bother putting them in the fridge as as you say they are too cold. If they are to last then I would put them in the fridge and then take them out about 20 mins before eating to get them to room temperature.
just a thought though and I'm not sure about this but I think refrigerators emit heat etc so putting food on top might have sped up the mould. But not 100% sure on this!!

Yes, I know what you mean. it's because strawberries are out of season now, so they have been kept in cold storage for a long time and go off quickly. just take them out of the fridge 1 hour before you plan to eat them. I just paid £2 for about 8 strawberries at Sainsbury's yesterday-what a rip-off, but I had to have them.

Put them in the fridge. When you want to have strawberries take them out the fridge and let them come to room temp before eating.

Try to change your habit ,by eating fruit and veg. that are seasonal ! All the stuff we buy out of season has travelled thousand of miles has NO nutritional benefits and is expensive.
I have had the same experience with peaches this summer, even in season ,it said " RIPEN AT HOME " what a laugh that was ,the NEXT day they where mouldy !Luckily I found the receipt and took them back to the shop and got my money back !
Never again will I be so stupid !

Make sure before you buy the strawberries that they are fresh and eat them within the next 2 or 3 days.

I keep them in the fridge and take them out about 1-2 hours before I want to eat them - they're OK then. Best if you can get PYO, some are still going in OCT (in UK)

Strawberries are funny things! i sometimes get boxes that go off quick, other times they last for weeks! i keep mine in the fridge but tend to leave them out for a while before i want to eat them. also if they're stored with bananas they'll go off quicker. i don't know why but bananas make other fruit go off quicker!

Keep them in the fridge. Bring them out a short time before you intend to sink your teeth into their succulent fresh. If you haven't any chocolate, eat them out of your lover's navel.

OK...when you pit them in the fridge.....and then you take them out to eat them...let them stay on the counter for at least 15 minutes so that they can get room temp.
