My heart races all day. I feel that it is due to one of the following: sugar swings, possible excess insulin, reactive hypoglycemia, just plain hypoglycemia, too much circulating adrenaline from too much anxiety and too much of all the above happening too often, etc.
I am going to see a doc next week, but I doubt it will do any good. Here's my question--since this makes it very, very hard to be calm and sit still, how can one slow this down? A sugar pill? Milk makes it worse. Eating anything makes it worse also. Tranquilizers won't work b/c I can't be tranqulized if I'm trying to do something productive like work or drive or anything like that.
Any ideas?

Well, i'm only a med student but what you have is tachycardia (medical term for rapid heart beat), it can have many causes and it is related to the release of adrenaline. What you can do to slow it at least momentarily is to gently (read: not vigorously) massage your vagus nerve, which is right next to the carotid sinus (where you take your pulse in the neck). It's a nerve that will slow down the hearbeat, among other things.
Now, remember i'm only a med student so you should definetly have an MD look at it. Hope it helped!

Personally, I stay away from the doctor and I stay away from medicine. With that said, what I would do if I were you is get plenty of rest, exercise more to strengthen your heart (cardio is best, light at first then progressively increase workload). Avoid caffeine. Learn yoga. Do some meditating. Visit the pet store and enjoy your favorite animal. Such activity will allow you to relax. Lastly, my advice is to live a simple life. Avoid unnecessary stress, and enjoy all the little things.

Call your doctor now. Do not wait until next week. Cardiac symptoms in a diabetic should be examined immediately. Hope this doesn't cause you anxiety-but, I wanna may myself clear. Low blood glucose could a cause, it could be anxiety, it could be cardiac disease, it could be electrolyte imbalances, it could be........Not enough data. It needs to be evaluated. You may wind up wearing a heart monitor for a day or so in order to check heart ryhthm and rate over a long period of time. My mom had to do that once. Above all, call your doctor today.

See a doctor asap. Take a rest. Do not do anything that will give you stress. Relax, stay still and do deep breathing exercises.
