Well, I know they show you how to breast feed. (breastfeeding is so wonderful by the way!I such a bonding experience!it was beautiful) I didn't get any bottles, just a pacifier that she never really used anyways.
The formula companies give the hospitals gift packs to give to the new mothers with some formula and maybe a diaper or 2.
But I don't remember getting bottles from them. if you are not breast feeding, then you should definitely buy some before your due date...Even if you are breastfeeding, you may need to pump some for when you're out. So you still need to get some bottles. They have the ones designed expecially for newborn mouths.
oh and...congratulations! (if you are the one you're asking for!!) There is nothing more precious on this Earth than becoming a mother!

I never got any bottles. I did get some nipples to put on the jars of formula they give you. I'd say if you are wondering on how many bottles to buy, don't even consider getting anything from the hospital. That way you're prepared!

When I had my son in July, I left the hospital with 12 of the 2oz prefilled Similac bottles. I work in a pediatricians office and believe me they get enough samples that they can help you out with formula if you need it. You will have to supply the bottles though. Good Luck and Congrats!!

Depends on the hospital. The standard pack sent home with mom by the formula companies gives out usually a couple of bottles prefilled with formula.

If the hospital feels generous, they may give you more.

The only bottles I received was 24/2-oz bottles of sugar water. I did however get a case of Enfamil baby formula from the gift pack from the hospital that you mail-in to redeem. You get a gift pack coupon from your OB/GYN to give the hospital.

Here take a copy of this with you. It's called a smart bag.

Didn't get any bottles. Did get a diaper bag and a thermometer. You'd better plan on buying your own bottles.

If money is tight, talk to your pediatrician (baby doctor). He/she can supply you with additional free formula.
Coupons for formula are rare (can someone spell monopoly), but diaper coupons appear occasionally. Have friends/co-workers save them for you.
