How serious is this? She said that her lungs are full of fluid and that they are doing tests. She said that last night, she had never felt as bad as she did, she was having cold sweats and she has had some sort of sinus problems for a week or two, coughing and all. She said she was having a hard time breathing. She had a pacemaker put in many years ago and goes for routine checks on that. I live on the other side of the country from her. How serious is this?

I just had another update...Now they are saying that they think that she also had a heartattack and that they will have to do open heart surgery in the am, but they have to get her off of her cumidin (sp) to get her blood thicker to do it. Is this a normal thing and she will be fine or is this something that is very life threatening?

Any time that there is open heart surgery, it is seriuos. However if she is a candidate for surgery, she must have something that can be fixed. She has fluid on and in her lungs, thats why she is having a hard time breathing. I had all of these signs when i went in and it was definately heart failure, but with meds, im doing much better. Coumadin this your blood too much for it to clot after surgery, therefore they will give her an iv with vitamin k in it and it will thicken, im sure she will be fine!

Water tablets, the diuretic somebody else stated, helps the physique emove extra fluids, extraordinarily people who're in the tissues surrounding the midsection. The tension from those fluids make the midsection artwork extra durable than it has to, actually tireing it out swifter than it needs to. it somewhat is a topic no longer unlike hassle-free muscle fatigue. This subject is talked approximately as congestive heart failure on the single hand, the call sounds extra intense than it somewhat is, on the othe hand, if left untreated, the midsection finally DOES fail and, nicely, ..... Water tablets are a somewhat benign scientific care, the worst section result's that it makes one pee often, and with a great intensity. while the bladder fills, it somewhat is fairly insistant. human beings on a diuretic are oftentimes prescribed a potassium complement, when you consider that a great number of the physique's mandatory salts to out with the urine, and could desire to get replaced. on a similar time as a competent nutritious source of potassium is in fruit, the fruit does no longer furnish as much as is sent out. Congestive heart failure is REVERSABLE, with perfect scientific care. Will somebody tell "brodie" to back off and end giving suggestion he knows no longer something approximately. A diuretic isn't a blood thinner. A blood thinner has a thoroughly diverse functionality. possibly it somewhat is HIM that needs to discover a diverse scientific service. or possibly it somewhat is extra beneficial that he does not.

Congestive heart failure is serious, but it isn't always fatal. However, if the doctors can't clear out her lungs she can die. If you are wondering whether or not to visit, I suggest you go. No matter what happens to her, you won't ever regret seeing your grandma. If you are still undecided, find out how long she is anticipated to stay in the hospital. If it is for more than just a couple days, that might help you decide.

You have my thoughts and prayers with u. This is very serious. Not nice to say but my father died 3 months ago of the same.He was 69. He had bi-pass surgery many years ago and until last year he was very well. Then he went into congestive heart failure this year. If I could be as bold as to advice you go to your grand mother now leaving it till she gets better could be too late.

It's serious. My mother died of congestive heart failure. Hopefully, they can get her better. They'll put her on a diuretic and try to get the fluid out.
