I have asthma and take an inhailer called albuteral. My inhailer as steroids in it which makes me depessed and wont let me sleep. Also it is starting not to work anymore. It works right away but I end up having to take it again maybe that night or something. Is there anything else I can take or do to calm my asthma?

actually albuterol is not a steroid and typically inhaled steroids do not cause those types of side effects. albuterol however will cause the jitters and trouble sleeping though. sounds like you need to see a doctor and get your asthma under control. there are better medications out there so you won't have to use the albuterol so much. also go to the american lung association web site where they have some really great up to date information on asthma. good luck.

Extract the juice from garlic. Mix 10 – 15 drops in warm water and take internally for asthma relief.

Mix, onion juice ¼ cup, honey 1 tablespoon and black pepper 1/8 tablespoon.

Mix licorice and ginger together. Take ½ tablespoon in 1 cup of water for relief from asthma.

Drink a glass of 2/3 carrot juice, 1/3 spinach juice, 3 times a day .

Add 30-40 leaves of Basil in a liter of water, strain the leaves and drink the water throughout the day effective for asthma.

Actually, the albuterol is a mild stimulant and that's why you're having trouble sleeping.

When was the last time you saw your doctor? Does he/she know about the change in your symptoms? I suggest you see your doctor again soon so they know that the medication is losing its effectiveness so they can prescribe you with something else. And tell them about any bad reactions to your meds that you might be having (trouble sleeping) so they can give you something with fewer side effects.

Also, try to stay away from dusty environments, places with a lot of smoke or smokers since this can trigger an attack.

I also have asthma. I am also a nurse. There's a few routes you can go. Ask your doctor to change your inhaler, that you don't want to take steroids. Ask for a nebulizer that you can use at home. Also watch for things like detergents and perfumes that have strong odors. Anything that has a strong Odor sets off your asthma.

Three times a day nebulizer treatments using a drug as Rx and possibly allergy testing and desensitizing.

Maybe you should try a chiropractor. The nerves in the middle part of your back supply the lungs.
