Anything except meat, fish or poultry or derivatives.

Shang1253: Oh dear, here we go again. Do people do this every week to upset me on purpose ?

Yuo can eat what you like, but you are not a vegetarian.

You are are a meateater that only eats fish. There is no such thing as a vegetarian who eats fish. Please do not confuse the issue for all us vegetarians by claiming to be one. Please go and read a dictionary. The English language is not up to be redefined just because you cannot be bothered to use the right words. You got 4 thumbs down when i posted this, that should tell you something.

Kim: ( see below) your friends are not vegetarians. Does " know some vegetarians that are a bit more flexible on eating small bits of meat," make any sense ?. No not at all. No offence to you, but your friends need to get a grip and use the proper definitions of words, they are not veggies. Is the animal just a little bit dead because they only eat a small about of meat. Thier attitude is illogical.

MK: The phrase you are looking for is "all not fish", not "some not fish"

Matt H has it right, Mysterious Girl has it wrong. Veggies don't eat fish.

I really should put this into a macro seeing as though i write it several times a week.

In the meantime, I'm of to Princess's house, it sounds great.

Vegetables, fruit, nuts, pulses, legumes, eggs, dairy products, and grains. Vegetarians should not eat fish because IT IS AN ANIMAL.

General guide line: if it has a face, it fu-cks, and it tries to get away when someone tries to catch it, then a vegetarian shouldn't eat it.

I am a vegan and I eat tiffin and chocolate cake a lot!!
I can make vegan versions of most things that meat eaters eat and they usually taste better (as in, scones, lemon meringue pie macaroni cheese etc). I have some really delicious vegetable dishes and they are so varied that you do not notice that there is a gap in something I eat - just like I do not crave eating a TV - just because I do not eat it.

I do not see why other people take sure pleasure in ending others lives for their own satisfaction. It is so cruel and un-needed, considering the many vegetarian/vegan options available.

I"m a vegetarian and I eat basically everything that's not pork, beef, chicken, fish, seafood. You just have to eat a lot of other foods with protein or take a lot of substitution vitamins to get all the good stuff you need to be healthy.
I know some vegetarians that are a bit more flexible on eating small bits of meat, (ie sauce with meat, meatsauce) and I've read somewhere that they're called "flexitarian".

Grains, veggies, fruits, nuts, legumes, soy products etc. Lacto-Ovo is the most common type of vegetarianism so they eat dairy and eggs too.

I eat alot of pasta and stir fry meals.

A lacto-Ovo vegetarian will eat: all sorts of vegetables, beans and pulses, pasta, bread, grains, rice,cous-cous, milk, cheese, mushrooms, meat substitutes ie quorn, soya and wheat protein etc. They will NOTeat meat, poultry, fish or seafood!!!

Plenty of things! People always ask as though my options must be so limited, but I've been veggie for 15 years and it's second nature now.

Cereal for breakfast, or eggs on toast.

I eat salads, jacket potatoes with beans/cheese, or cheese salad baguettes for lunch

For dinner I'll have some veggies and a Quorn fillet, veggie sausage and mash, pasta, pizza, vegetable pie, vegetable soup, vegetable bake, Chinese tofu and vegetables with noodles or rice, vegetable curry, veggie burger, omlette, Quiche, vegeterian chilli, vegetable fajitas or tacos, stir fry...

That's all off the top of my head, so it's hardly limited!

Edit- To the people thumbs-downing me- I'm just listing foods. What's wrong?

It depends what kind of vegetarian you are. There are many kinds. But in general, vegetarians don't eat any flesh meat (beef, chicken, fish, pork, etc.)

I know this is cliche but the easiest, most descriptive answer remains "nothing with a face" and everything else.
Or you could say, we eat nothing that uses oxygen to sustain it's life. If you wanted something more creative.

Also: Vegetarians do NOT eat fish, if you eat fish you are NOT a Vegetarian. Fish don't grow on trees, they are not plants. Therefore a real Vegetarian does not eat them.
