Know any good substitutions for Sazon in Puerto Rican cooking? It adds alot of taste but has way too much MSG and I don't like giving it to my kids. We are a white family but eat alot of ethnic foods - especially Spanish and Asian.

Goya bottled Sofrito and Recaito work very well.
Herdez brand Salsa Verde in a can is a good addition to many dishes also.
What you are looking for is an ingredient to add depth to your dishes, and the above suggestions should do that. However, why not start from scratch with garlic, oregano, green pepper, onions, tomato, etc to do that? You can taste the difference and it's better for you. I make a big batch of homemade sofrito and freeze it in sandwich ziplocs. When I start to cook I add one of those to 1T olive oil and go from there. It's not so much trouble, because you do ONE batch which gives you many uses.
