Strict adherence to diet, weight loss, frequent exercise. All of these things help, but whatever you choose as a way to manage your sugar, be sure to check on it frequently (4 times daily is ideal, but often more than necessary in most people, talk to your doctor) to make sure that whatever you're doing is working.

Exercise helps. I was diagnosed with Type 2 almost 3 years ago. I am not on meds, I control my diabetes with diet and exercise. A 20 minute walk after a high carb meal or snack always brings my blood glucose level back to an acceptable level.

Dont eat too many carbs as these are converted into sugar. Eating a large salad daily is a big help as is light to moderate exercise daily. Cook your own meals because pre cooked and packaged foods contain not only sugar but other additives that are not so good for you.

I'm still laughing from the knothead that said eat less sugar... that's funny. Seriously, this info will help a lot:

For type I and type II diabetics (and those who are overweight and could potentially become diabetic). Copy and bookmark the webpages I‘ve listed below… they are invaluable for those with diabetes and/or weight problems...

I've found a wonderful book that will help you control your diabetes and minimize or even eliminate the complications. Some folks who became diabetic due to poor diet and obesity are effectively cured by following the advice in this book. I'm a type II (inherited), but it helps all types, especially those who became diabetic due to poor eating habits. It's by an author who has really done his homework, Patrick Quillin, Phd. It's called, "The Diabetes Improvement Program". I have tried his suggestions and found them to be very helpful. I have no complications whatsoever and my blood sugar levels are quite stable. Yes, I still have to take Metformin (Glucophage) daily, but it's the minimum dosage (500mg) and I only have to take it twice a day. I have been off Metformin for as much as a week, but this was with vigorous exercise. Many, what I call, non-hereditary type IIs (those that don't have a close relative who had it) have gotten off medication completely, just with diet, exercise, and supplements. So, in some instances, it most certainly can be 'effectively' cured. Read more about it here:

The book explains what's going on in our system and what to do about it. It's really easy and inexpensive. It's basically diet, supplements, and exercise. For example, did you know that cinnamon helps blood sugar absorption? It also controls cholesterol and triglycerides. This is according to the USDA:

Very little in this world contains less sugar than soda. It is essentially liquid sugar, and if you cut it out of your diet you will dramatically increase your blood sugar. you don't need to worry too much about juice because it is commonly natural sugar that your body can break down easily, but it will also help.

Good luck

the best medication for type 2 diabetes is EXERCISE. There is not other treatment that works better, including pills, with exception to insulin...but insulin does not correct the problem. Exercise works to sensitize your body to it's own insulin. It helps in clearing lipids from your blood, along with glucose. If you're exercising your muscles need glucose for energy so instead of staying in your blood it's burned for energy. It helps you to lose weight. Excess weight causes more insulin resistance. It strengthens your heart and lowers your blood pressure. There is nothing more effective in not just controlling your glucose levels, but improving your overall health. Don't just focus on cardio, build some muscle too. More muscle means more glucose needed for energy which means less glucose in the blood! In order to support exercise you'll have no choice but to feed your body nutritous foods. ;-) Good luck.

watch what you eat and how much sugar it has in it...that might help some. Carbs have alot of sugar...cut down on some carbs too...that too might help some. Not sure if it will cut pills out but it will defently help and in time may.

Less carbs, less sugar. Cinnamon is good for lowering sugar. More exercise.
