Im 36 years old and Ive had hypertenion for the past 4 years now. Ive been on medicine since then (210 over 110). Since then I have changed jobs who dont offer health insurance and cant afford a single policy. I have not been takin' my medicine now for almost a month now. Starting to get headachs again and other symptoms. Need to know how do i get free medical attention for this and a refill on my prescription? ANYONE CAN HELP ME PLEASE, before i have a stroke or a heart attack?

I suggest you write to the manufacterer of your particular medication, more and more of those companies are providing people who need assistance with their meds at a reduced price or even free.
You could also call your doctor and ask him if you can get a bunch of samples from him, many doctors stock samples in fairly large quantities in thier offices.

I'm sure you've already thought of this, but if you don't have health insurance, and you truly can't afford your own, then you should qualify for Medicaid, or they might be able to refer you to a low cost plan. In NY state we have many health plans that the individuals only pay $25 a year, and they see the same exact doctors as the people with a group policy, they don't have to go to a clinic, and that goes for Medicaid too, most of those benefits are now administered by private health insurance companies.

Best bed, just suck it up, pay $70 to see a doctor for an office visit, and tell him about your problems. Many of the drugs used for high blood pressure are very inexpensive and you may be able to be switched to something you can afford out of pocket while you get the paperwork sorted out to get insured or medicaid if you qualify. It may be cheaper than you think to get some control, so give it a try, first take care of your health, then worry about the paperwork, hypertension tends not to be very expensive in the short run.

Just because you don't have insurance, it doesn't mean you can't go to the doctor and pay for the visit out of pocket. Hypertension is nothing to ignore. Try calling your doctor and see what they can do with the charge for an office visit. Sometimes they allow a discount if you don't run it through insurance. Otherwise, find a free clinic. If you don't know of one, call your local hospital and ask where one is. Are you overweight? Do what you can to reduce your weight, especially getting exercise - a simple walk every day can do wonders.

Contact the manufacture of the medicine you are taking and they can probley help you, I also take high blood medicine and I couldn't afford it. I went to the county health department and gave me a card so that I could get it free, check with them.
