I know a friend who has herpes but thinks that because she is taking Valtrex she doesn't have to tell anybody and she is still dating. I tell her she is sick and I can't tell anybody because she is my best friend.

Because it is human nature to have sex, even under the most extreme curcumstances. And Herpes is a curable disease! IThe Idea that it isn't is a flat out lie. There is an essential oil know as oil of oregano which outright destroys the virus on contact, no matter where it chooses to hide! Oregano oil will also cure a yeast infection in a matter of a day or two. And I do not understand the point of calling someone a "slut" or "sleeze" just because they have herpes. Ever had chicken pox? Then you had herpes! Mabe a different form, but its still herpes. You can get Oregano oil at health food stores. I choose the Now brand sense its relatively inexpensive, but is not the fake stuff. Some essential oils are said to be full strength when they are not. If you use the Now brand tablets, or in a liquid form (dilute with olive oil if you use the liquid form) It will work! Don't believe me? I used to get cold sores about once a week. Now I never get them! Try it if you don't believe me!

Some because they are *******, some because they want to share the misery, some because they are in denial, some because they are ashamed, some because they fear rejection, some because they are ignorant . Take your pick.
So because she is your best friend, you can't tell anybody? What about the people she infects, and the people they infect? Don't they deserve some consideration? You really need to get in her face about this. At the very least, you can try to make her INSIST on the use of a condom! You may even have to dump the friendship and not only threaten to, but do tell her partner(s)!
If you had a friend that was seriously planning to throw a bomb into a church during services, would you keep your mouth shut until after people had died? This isn't a lot different.
Besides, how are you going to live with your conscience? Just telling yourself "She did it, not me!" isn't going to wear well.

ok first of all being her friend u need to get her help she is still in denial. PS Valtrex doesn't cure it THERE IS NO CURE!! Valtrex helps to suppress future outbreaks, you might need to remind her that. It can still be spread even if there is no active lesions. If she won't come out of denial then at least make sure she is using a condom. Spreading this around to other people is not fair to them, especially because they don't even know she has it. Good luck with this but she needs to get help.

That's just sad. Just because she's taking Valtrex, doesn't mean she's cured. She's just spreading it. Not to mention she's prone to getting other STD's like AIDS

Why? Immaturity, anger and resentment at their own situation, a poor sense of responsibility, lack of judgement, the same reckless behavior that got them infected in the first place, selfishness, self-centeredness, ignorance. I suspect your friend was told by her doctor that she can infect others despite the Valtrex and has chosen to ingore this. This same information was provided with the prescription. In the end, one fellow may discover that he now has HSV1 and will trace it back to her and you won't have to tell anybody because HE will tell EVERYBODY.

Tell everyone who will listen, this is like thyphoid Mary they should be locked in stadiums and only allowed to do each other it is disgusting and if more guys too retribution on women who infect them, it would help the situation,

she is careless and heartless..tell them if you care for your friend`s health and even others close to herbut first you gotta educate her on the dangers of what she is doing because since she is already inffected she is more likely to get other STD`s if she keep having unprotected sex.
