Have you had sexual intercourse or contact with someone that could be a carrier? have you had any of the symptoms to do with HSV? if you experience any of the symptoms then you need to see a doctor right away there are extremely painful lesions in the mouth or genital area so if you have been experiencing any pain its time to talk to your doctor. P.S. Its not the end of your life if you do have it.

Genital herpes is symptom-free only between outbreaks. Both you and your boyfriend can be tested if either one of you is showing symptoms (must be done at the time of an outbreak) and I strongly suggest you acquire a lot more education about HSV 1 & 2 in your free time.

This may sound all moral - but if you knew your partner for long enough (rather than jumping straight into bed with them) then you would be aware of any recurring illness.
Also be aware that the cold sore (on peoples lips) can be transferred just as easily and once youve got the thing...
Cold sores are another form of herpes and touching the infected lip and then the genitals or then rubbing your eye can transfer the disease to those sites too.

I don't believe they can test you for sure unless you are actually having an outbreak. But I would check with your doctor.
I just checked a few websites and you have to take a scraping from a lesion to test if it's Herpes.

If you had contracted herpes you would know between 7 and fourteen days after contact as you would get a big blister. If you didn't get blister within this incubation period you should be OK

im just did some reserch on it and they can tell if you have been infected with some new blood test. so if you ge that test they you can know forsure but std are crazy and might show up later.
