I think you are a great guy for behaving so responsibly!! My compliments to you, and to your girlfriend for having such great taste in men!!

Your primary care doctor can probably administer most standard STD tests. Usually that includes the following:
HIV test (usually blood, but sometimes a mouth swab)
Syphillis test (usually blood, and very rare. To be honest, I'm not 100% positive that it's as routine in the Uk as it is here in the states.)
Chlamydia test-- usually urine, but may be a swab depending on what test they use
Gonorrhea test-- also usually urine, but may be a swab.

But, if you'd like to go to a different provider due to the sensitive nature of this testing =-), I'd recommend contacting the family planning association of the UK. There website is: http://www.fpa.org.uk/

They also have a nationwide hotline that can be reached at 0845 310 1334

They can refer you to the clinic nearest you. And, you can get information about birth control at the same time you get tested for everything.

Keep in mind that condoms are still a must, because they aren't going to test you for HPV or Herpes as part of routine testing. Talk to the physician about your risks for those, as well as possibly getting the HPV vaccine for your girlfriend.

Again-- thanks for being a great guy!

Best wishes to you both!

I got clinically diagnosed with herpes (type 2) about 4 years ago, when I was still attending college and had a dumb one-night stand. I realize lots of girls say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and all of a sudden it seemed like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date men again. After all, who wants to go out with someone that has sores round her private parts? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/72Ak2 everything improved.

Not only was I able to eradicate all traces of the herpes virus from my system in less than 21 days, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just last week, in front of everybody in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This method provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience real love again. Now I hope that I can help others too by sharing this story.

I suggest you go to your local hospital and visit the STD clinic . All the test can be done there , if your not sure about sitting in the waiting room with all the others who are in the same boat as you - you can make an appointment and go in the evening. No names are mentioned you have a number they call out when it's your turn .
You should get all your test results there and then .......
if your having Aids test or hepatitis etc you will have to Waite for the results usually 7 to 10 days .

Best of luck to you hope all goes well ......

Look in the phone book for GUM clinics (Genitourinary clinics). I know in the Lancaster area, the local paper prints the phone number for the clinics every week.

A sexual health check is really straightforward - someone will take a sexual history from you, then you will be offered a range of swabs and blood tests. You may also be offered the chance to speak to a health advisor.

If you can't find the number in the phone book/paper, then phone NHS direct - they have the opening times/locations/phone numbers for all clinics. (0845 46 47)

Testing and any treatment you require is free, and your GP (in fact no one outside the clinic) will not be told about your visit, unless you consent for them to be told.

A GUM clinic is the best place for treatment, as they have access to the latest testing techniques which your GP may not have.

Good luck, and I hope she's the one!

You can go to any clinic or doctor that would do the test for you. I think he would just order a lab test that you could take to the lab to have the blood drawn. She also should have one done since she's been in a long term relationship. It's very important to have the data to rely on.

You can just go to the health department, or if you are in college, your college clinic (if it has one) can do full std testing. The health department is the best bet though, but both places are practically free.
